I Got Fired, I'm Back With My Parents, I'm Looking For A Nanny Gig

I got the talk. Not the talk from my mom explaining my period. Not the talk from my father, pick a career that supports you, you can always have a hobby as well. No, I got the talk from my boss. If you don't do the work, you're fired.

It caught me by surprise. I worked, I was there more or less at eight, I had lunch hour, and a half, I left early to catch the 4:30 bus. I am a people person. Not a numbers person. The talk came with a notice, and probation. Shape up, or get out.

One talk was not enough. I got the boss dad talk. You do not have the luxury of being fired. Fired means you are not a good work risk. Pull up your panties, show up, and work your ass off.

Probation includes a weekly review. Crying does not get you any points. Sitting with your arms folded doesn't either. Sit up, shoulders back.

I failed the probation. I was fired for failure to perform. No severance for cause. On the street. No referral. His words before I was walked out the door by security. Grow up.

I will admit that up to the day I was fired I did not take it seriously. I didn't believe it. I still don't understand. Work, is a four letter word.

I am now back home, under my parents' roof. With a curfew, and I have to let them know where I am, with who, and why. The only good news is that I came home a virgin, my father has no tolerance for what he calls, messing around.

I interviewed with a young couple for a nanny position. My father paid every penny of my college education. He is not happy with me.

So, sex is not on my radar right now.

Maybe next time I will have more juicy news.

When I was in my thirties I suddenly found myself divorced and fired in the same month. I moved in with my dad who was living in different state having a grand time in retirement. We were always close so I thought it would give me a chance to reset and think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. He told me after like two weeks living there that if I lived with him and took care of everything I would inherit it all, meanwhile I would live for free pretty much and he would pay me monthly.
Crazy how life works out.
