And So It Is, One Day A New Baby Came To My Home, With Her Mother Too
When I was 32, married six years, I was faced with a love child by my husband's coworker. I knew her, I just never expected a child from her. A true career woman, honors graduate, focused. My talks with her were never about children, always about work. Now she sat across from me, telling me, and asking me to accept her child as my own.
I cannot tell you what emotional tornado hit me, on the one hand a baby is always welcome, mine or hers. Yes, I would more than gladly accept her wish. I fell to my knees and laid my head in her lap. A baby, a baby. We would have a baby in our house.
We planned, let my husband know together, we were going to have a new baby in our home.
The fact that he had cheated, that she had made a fool of me, all melted away. That night I didn't sleep. In a short six months we would have a new baby to love.
Our new baby came, perfect with ten fingers and toes, I had the nursery ready, I held her in my arms. Six weeks later she asked me, what if she was the 'mother'. Sure, you are her mother. But every day, if you teach me? Yes of course. We can have our baby. You just have to love her, every second of the day, the rest is easy. And she laid her head in my lap.
Sharing a baby is something new. Legally, she's mine and my husband's. But God chose her to make her, she is her Mother, not me. With our baby, on the bed, with her mothers beside her, we held hands and promised our baby we would be the best mothers a girl can have.
