When You Give In To 'the Man'

I considered myself assertive. But I met this guy who showed me that he was assertive, and I was his. I wasn't so much submissive to him, and accepted my place with him on top. We had a purely sexual relationship for a while, but one day he got jealous. He didn't want me out with any other guys, even after telling him I had not done anything with the guy. He didn't care, the best thing for me was to stay close and not run around.

Once he had set my boundaries, it morphed into all the other submissive roles. I cooked, he ate. I ironed, he wore the shirt. I made the bed, he fucked. Every week I went further and further down the rabbit hole of pleasing him and doing what he said.

It got to the point where he told me that it was time for me to produce. It would be good if I gave him a son before Christmas. I was 26 and not really ready to be a parent, especially unmarried. He agreed to marry me, once I produced. Bring him a son, and he would marry me. But, bring him a son.

I did produce a son, and then a girl. I stopped working to become a stay at home mom. We found a house we liked and moved in. I turned 30 along with an army of other 30 year old moms. One of those moms, she and I had become friends. She told me, give in, surrender, don't fight. It's not worth it. Be the woman he wants and bake him a pie.

And that was the block I had to get out of the way. I had two more kids so now I have four. It's hard to just give in. But it's harder to fight. I'm not so much submissive, I don't believe that's what I am. I'm pragmatic. I have a husband and four kids and a house to look after. I don't have time to fight about something that I gave into a long time ago.
