My friend and I are fighting because she tried to fix me up with her brother and I said that he was just a guy and I was looking for a man. Am I the only one who sees a difference between the two? Or has such a strong preference?

I've dated both men and guys. There are definitely attractions with both, but I want to marry a man not a guy. It's not an age thing, but just a certain seriousness about life. I don't want to be wheeled into labor and delivery wondering if my "bad boy" is really on his way to the hospital or playing another hand of poker.

Some guys eventually grow up and become men.

I am a female. I thought "guy" was a non-derogatory term in reference to an ordinary Man. Its like referring to you as Stupid vs Dimwit. Perhaps you should just use the term "bad boy" vs Man which would have stressed your point a little better.

Bad boys are just one category of "guys". I know plenty of guys who aren't bad boys. I married one. I know he loves me, but his lack of responsibility around the house is really starting to drive me nuts.
