Thank God I don't believe in suicide. I wonder what in hell I was thinking when I walked down the aisle. If I knew then what I know now, I would have run back downstairs and out the hotel. Run for my life. I think I just had this romantic ideal about a husband loving his wife more than anything else and wanting to make her think the world of him. It never occured to me that my husband wouldn't care if he disapointed me or made me look bad in front of friends and family. Then for the longest itme, I just assumed that I must deserve such a bad marriage. I thought my husband was the best that I could get. I tried to make the best of it and keep things together so I wouldn't be alone and so I wouldn't worry my aging and sick parents about how I was going to make it on my own. Then I just sort of got lazy for a few years. Threw myself into work and volunteeting so I wouldn't have to be home. Now I'm sick and depressed and the idea of dying is so appealing that if I wasn't Catholic I would kill myself just to avoid having to lay down next to him at night anymore.

I think It's part of growing up. whatever choices we make before we've got a lot of life experience. they are going to be based on fantasy and we can't possibly really know better. I think that depression is what happens to people with great potential- when they don't let themselves aim towards reaching it- they shut themselves down somehow to survive. if your're depressed because your marriage and/or lifestyle sucks it means that somewhere in you you have the great potential to live a very different life. it just takes baby steps- and a few big steps- and then more baby steps to build that life for yourself. maybe you've been letting your husbad drive for too long and it's time you took the wheel. weather he stays in the car or not.....the one really great thing about feeling suacidal is your not afraid of death...which if you let that spread over you..you can become not afraid of a lot of things...and you can find that you are really brave to just try something compleatly new......like seeking out ways to live your life that really truly make you happy- weather or not they please anybody else.

good luck!!!! read "the Awakening" and "Fear of Flying", pop a xanax or two one weekend- just to take a break from the pressure and open your mind - and then put down the books and the pills just start doing what the hell you feel like.

Divorce can be a great thing; a new beginning; just look at the statistics and see how many others are doing it.

Divorce isn't really an option (and not just because of the religious thing). I'd liketo have a couple days to just think about my situation, but he's always around it seems. The only peace is when he is asleep.

lie-say your friend's mom just died or something and you gotta go be with her -and get a motel. 24- 48 hours by yourself, even just 6 or 12. can really do fucking miracles sometimes. just write and think and put out a do not distube sign for however long you can arrange. it's a small wierd thing to do but it might be the best thing you can do right now. if you feel no peace unless your asleep you are headed for a breakdown. a person can't survive like that. divorve may not be the only or even the best solution. but doing SOMETHING to give yourself some mental space sounds pretty essential right now.

O please. Stop using religion for an excuse. It sure didn't stop all those robed child molesters from doing what they did right there in the church. Honey you've been brainwashed. If it's that bad, FILE FOR DIVORCE.

Exactly - leave him. Don't waste any more of your life on him.

You need to find someone to have an affair with. Learn new sex techniques. Do oral if you aren't used to it.
