i'm like the sterotype girl who has crushes, whenever i'm around guys in general (like guys whom i don't like, and guys whom i like) i don't know what to say and there's like an awkward silence and i never know how to start a conversation, i'm always worried about what i'll say and if it'll be right.

Just ask them, how you hanging, and the conversation will go forth from there.

O just say something like, "darn I'm about to pee my pants, do any of you know where the little girls room is," at the same time kind of do that leg cross thing desperate to pee girls always do. That should get things rolling.

This might sound stupid, but trust me it works. When I was growing up, I was really shy too, so the guidance counselor at school told me to try visualization. When you're alone, close your eyes and imagine talking to people. Think of things you like and picture yourself telling someone. It might take a while, but if you stick with it, it may help you like it helped me. Good luck!

Get a mental list of things to talk about that interest anyone.

Movies, music, TV shows, sports.

You can't go wrong by asking a question like, "Hey did you see American Idol last night? How did you like what they were singing?" or "I can't wait to see the new Star Wars movie that's coming out. Are you going to go when it comes out?".

The trick is to ask the questions that REQUIRE answers. From there you progress the conversation... "Yeah I'm not going the opening weekend because it's to crowded but I do plan on going with my friends. What other movies have you seen recently that you really liked." Once again, the question REQUIRES an answer.
