Use socks. You can get them at thrift stores and yard sales CHEAP! Often, 5 cents a pair. You can wash and reuse them.

It's really about what your comfortable with. Some people don't like the feeling of a wet pad and some dont like the feeling of a tampon. Whichever you feel like using is most likely what is the best for you. I dont like tampons because I am scared of the disease you can get if you leave them into long...but thats just me:D

Like she said, whichever you are comfortable with. Toxic Shock Syndrome is scary, but you can only get it if you leave the tampon in for a very long time. usually more than 8 hours, but still change it like every 3. Personally I think pads are gross and sticky and smell like crap, so i wear a tampon. The risk of a disease is less with a lower absorbansy tampon, which is better, excpt if you have a heavy flow. So as long as you remember to change it, tampons are better in my opinion.

I'm 13 also.

I agree...tampons are better. I started with them. I was a competetive gymnast so pads weren't really even an option. I berely ever had a period back then anyways, so it wasn't a huge problem. Once the tampon is in, you can go on with your life like your not even on a period (minus the changing every few hours, but that comes with either device). With a pad, you have a constant, soggy reminder that you are bleeding stuck between your legs all day. Yum.

Pads will hold some pee for those desperate times.

I'm also 13... slightly disconcerting how many teens are on here. Anyways, stock up on both, so when you have a heavy flow you can use a tampon and a pad.

They don't hurt if they're in right. Keep practicing.

Well, when you're only 13, sometimes the vagina is still painful when you try to insert anything into it, so pads would probably be a better choice if you would like to aviod the pain. But then again, if it doesn't hurt when you use a tampon, go for it. :]
