Sometimes I think about just changing my identity and starting somewhere new as a new person. You know changing my name, dying my hair. Maybe a new me would have friend. But I don't know how. Or if it is even legal.
Start by taking an honest look at yourself. It sounds like low self esteem.
Look at your weight - is in it proportion? If not, hit the gym.
Look at your clothes. Are they in style? If not, get a new wardrobe. Money can be tight, so buy items that can mix and match with others. A nice pair of black pants can work with different blouses.
Is it your attitude? How you present your self speaks louder than words.Put a smile on your face and in your voice. Be outgoing. Don't sit in the corner and wait for someone to come to you.
Keep up with current events in your neighborhood, city, state, or national news. This will give you something to talk about.
Maybe try a different hair color- something subtle. If you're a brunette, try an auburn color.
Check how you wear your make up. Too much? Wrong colors? A lot of mall stores such as Dillards, Famous-Bar, etc, give free make overs. You don't have to buy the expensive cosmetics.
Good luck - keep us posted.
The thing is that everyone says I am smart and attractive. I often get complements from men, including strangers --but no follow up. People laugh at my jokes and coworkers ask my opinion, so I must be funny and approachable. It just seems like no one ever thinks to invite me out on the weekend. My mom claims that it's the case of the prettiest girl in school who doesn't get asked to the prom because everyone thinks she already has a date. But I often tell people that I don't have plans.
So, it's not my looks. I don't have bad breath or gas. I'm not a bigot or ignoramus. I don't chew with my mouth open. No weird piercings (just one hole per ear) and no tattoos. I have one small scar on my forehead, but it's concealed by bangs. ANd even when you can see it, it's not disfiguring.
You need to get out there and meet people, like at the library, or church, or a Starbucks, somewhere. Then maybe you can strike up a conversation with a guy and see what happens.
