He Started It, Now He Has To Live With It. Happy Valentine's To You
On Valentine's 2019 I got a card from my husband, it was mushy mushy, how do I love thee, what I want to do with you, you bring me happiness, etc etc, addressed to Briana, his full time ass!stand. She got my my card, signed Vince 2019.
That's how it started, the fight, the anger, the realization I had no cards to play, unemployed at home with a newborn and a toddler. Make friends with Briana, my best friend told me, hug your enemy close. I started by asking her to babysit that night, I left her card for her while my husband suffered through dinner.
2020 was the watershed moment, I asked Briana to move in with us. It's all about sharing, now we share the dishes. She had no children so I set her up babysitting and early child development, until holding a baby becomes second nature. Not so easy, when a baby needs your attention, to take off your underwear.
We set up a schedule following our cycles, he had little or no choice about it. Because we were all home for seven months we had to deal with tight quarters. Our room wasn't big enough for a king, so he had to get used to sharing his side. You think you don't move when you sleep, until there are three of you competing for the sweet spot.
2020 proved the old adage two's company three's a party. You have to make it work, or die trying. By the time we had two back in the office the sleeping pattern was worked out and so was sharing the bathroom. We had duties, distributed by skillset and aptitudes. I kept the cooking, Briana became my sous chef. We made the bed together every morning. My husband got his first distribution of hard chores and duties.
It's six years since the scarlet Valentine's card, since that screw up he has to be verbal. And both of us present. We have a dinner reservation, a sitter, and new dresses and shoes to go with it. Six years to learn by doing, if you are going to mess around, you better be ready to put up with the consequences. He bought off more than he can chew, I don't feel sorry for him. Man up, buddy, you have two women.
