The most embarrassing moment of my life happened 9 years ago when I was at college. I was watching tv with a girl I knew (a friend) and a cute little friend of hers. She (the cute girl) proudly mentioned that she was getting closer to earning a black belt in jujitsu and my friend was very impressed by that. She said she was very jealous at her fighting skills. Then she turned towards me and said "wouldn't you like to be able to kick ass like that too?". I really should just have said yes, but I was immature and my ego was offended by the suggestion that a much smaller girl was a better fighter than me. Stupid, I know, but I said something that made it clear that I thought I would beat her in a fight. After all, I argued, I was 6'1 and a reasonably athletic guy and the girl with jujitsu training was just 5'5 or 5'6. The two girls laughed at that stupid statement from me – which only made me insist even more in my flawed argument. In the end I accepted a challenge to take her on and wrestle her right then and there, just to prove my point. I actually truly thought I would win. So we faced off and a couple of short seconds later she had me down and completely defeated. She had put me in some jujitsu hold and I couldn't even move. Much to my friend's delight, I might add. I immediately wanted revenge and a rematch, so we squared off again. Within seconds she had me down and defeated a second time. I couldn't believe it and asked for a third round – which of course ended in the exact same way. After that I finally gave up and accepted that this girl could indeed kick my ass – and quite easily too. It took me weeks, if not months, to get over that.
