I am confessing that I am actually at the end of my rope. I am officially one of the angriest most bitter women on the planet. The women I swore I would never end up becoming. I used to believe in a benevolent God, merciless and listening. All the stuff the "christians" around me fed me with, even when they were huge hypocrites themselves, I turned the other "cheek" or way so to speak.

I'm not naive it's not that I think if you believe in God or do good things in His name you are free from bad things but I am finally at a place where I just don't get Him, it, how it all works.

Three years ago my hard working husband opened a biz, a month later Sept. 11 hits and economy went down, we held on for three years and finally had to sell the house, had to put the dog to sleep because pets weren't allowed, kids hated leaving their friends, yadda yadda, still I wasn't complaining, no problem, bad things happen to good people "just think of all the people on Sept 11th or their loved ones". All the while I was watching my husband work his tail off leaving at 4:00 a.m. coming home at 10:00 p.m. sometimes sleeping at the office. I was doing daycare and custodial work at night to keep food on table, still no problem, this was our choice. However, I started feeling some envy for the neighbors whose husband would come home at 5:00 and they would be putting in their pools and big screens. I wondered how they worked half the time and ended up with so much more. So we end up moving into the apartment. My mom lives with us because she can't afford to live alone and the kids and my husband that made 5 people in 2 bedroom apartment. Finally we had nothing left to live on and had to walk away from biz so husband takes a job in another part of the u.s. thousands of miles away. All this time I'm thinking o.k. no problem things will turn around, we made our choices things didn't work out.

However, all this while I read the bible tried to keep faith in God. I was charitable in my heart giving to others when I barely had anything to give, if I had a sandwich and saw a homeless hungry I would give it to him, "knowing" that God would take care of us. I gave and gave, and had faith and now today as I write this I have officially given up. It happened yesterday when a so called friend called to let me know that she was going on a trip and wondered if I would watch the dog and take care of plants. Not offering any money or compensation. This woman who has never worked has a lovely home and her husband is home more than at work. She knew all that we had been through and how much we needed whatever help we could get right now, with my husband working way in other part of u.s. and us on the other side broke and not knowing how we will make rent. That's when I lost it, I was done.

God says "Give and I shall give unto you" "As you thinketh in your heart so shall it be" "You reap what you sow" I used to believe all that but as of today I am done, I wanted to make this a public statement of not believing anymore.

I know it sounds like a big whine case but it's mine and I needed to get rid of it. I'm still angry at all the inequities of this world and why God lets that be and all the %^&$%^& Christians out there with all the answers all the time and yet when one of my old neighbors needed their kids to get a ride to school do you think any one of the "christians" was there, no I was the one the called to come pick up their kids. It's all bullshit, all of it.

Tell the single mom who has a desparately ill child in a hospital that "if you only believe" and "with enough faith" oh so when her kid doesn't make it it's because she didn't have faith? When are the assholes of the world going to get a little thrown their way. I think I could bear all this if I just saw one son of a bitch who doesn't work hard and has all his/her hearts desire fall on a little bad luck, nothing too severe just a little taste of all the dissapointment that us other poor bastards have had to stomach.

So that's it, that's my confession. I'm done with God as of today, He obviously doesn't care what happens to keep my faith alive, cuz if he did he would have thrown us one little bone by now, but I guess he's too busy working with all the fine "perfect Christians"

thanks I feel better

Wow. I can certainly understand your feelings.
I won't try to argue here, but I will say that the human race has been given free will. What we decide to do, is on us. Unfortunately we don't always make the right choices, or the right "connections" in life. You'll find that most of the people that "have" sucked up their way to the top. They schmoozed the right people. They may not know how to tie shoes, but they make sucking up an art form. Meanwhile, people like you that bust your ass everyday get left out.
Are you elidgible for any State aid? Are you and your husband able to to get any kind of grants/scholarships to improve your skills?
I hope things work out for you.

Ok; check out little Mikee Jackson in the news again today. Seems he's going down; probably owes out more then he's got and with less and less cd sales and lenders turning him away now plus growing piles of legal bills......not to mention looking at about 100 yrs of prison time for full conviction on those 13 counts. Don't ya feel better now.

I truly want things to workout for you. I read your confession and I feel for you. I'm no way in any shape or form christain. I too do not believe in God. The bible is just another book. It's just a big novel. What I'm going to say next might sound crazy though. You should go back to your faith. Go back to God. YOu and your family are such under heavy stress right now that maybe you should try again because it might relieve some stress. YOu don't even have to be a christain again. Just try to go somewhere were you can talk about anything and vent to anyone even a deity that may not exist. I hope you and your family get on your feet again. You have my best wishes in mind.

First thing to do, is quit comparing yourself to others. No matter how much one has, someone else has more or better.
It's little consolation, but you are supporting your family, honestly. You're not resorting to prostitution or drug dealing. Your hard work will eventually pay off. Whenever you go someplace, put a smile in your voice. Introduce yourself. You will not make business connections at a pity party. Believe me, the right business person will notice you.
I agree with the other post - check into schooling to improve job skills. A lot of jumior colleges have programs for the older adult that needs guidance in career moves.
It also sounds like you need some quaity time away from all of the stress. Do you have any relatives that you could visit for a weekend? Do you have the means to visit your husband?
Also, talk to your clergy...a lot of churches have networks of social services that may help you. As for as the faith, right now, that is what you need. You don't realize it, but God is the one holding you together.

Life isn't fair sometimes but you have to fight. The thing that "bothers" me here is your husband taking a job "thousands" of miles away and leaving you behind.

No one takes a job that far from their family unless its a great job with great rewards in which case he would be sending you back lots of money, or, one or both of you wanted a lot of space. How long ago did he leave, what kind of job is it, and are you receiving money? As for the God thing..... my grandmother used to say," God helps those who helps themselves."

When ever you were riding the high times and everthing seemed to be going your way, did you thank God for giving you those good times?

Before I even read what others replied, I am going to give you my opinion.... Its human nature to see and admire things that you may want in your life, but you seem to watch what other people have in a envious way. How can you worry about how other people got what they have? How dare you feel like you are so entitled. Grow up, thank God for the health of you and your family.

I don't see why your comparing yourself to others, or what they have, in the end you all stand before one God, then what are you going to say when he asks why you questioned him and gave up on him? Think about it!

I'm sorry that you have had a hard time lately. At one time in everyones life, it seems like everything just falls apart. But dont blame God for it. Yah, maybe you are living in an apartment, but you arent on the street. Maybe you dont have everything you ever wanted, but you have food to eat, thats more than some people have. And dont think all of this is happening just because God decided he didnt like you anymore. God loves you, and he hasnt let you down yet. Just because all this happened doesnt mean that you dont have enough faith and God is punishing you for it, maybe Hes testing you. Look at the book of Job in the Bible, he lost everything he had, and he still worshipped God because he knew that everything that happened was for God's glory. Material things might bring you temporary pleasure, but only the peace of God and give you everlasting joy. Be thankful that you still have your family.

he also says trials and tribulations will be sent your way to test your faith. God knows what all you've done and so what if you have to suffer a little bit on earth is'nt that better than all eternity in hell? Go back to God and have him lead you. you need him God loves you and he's greatfull for all the things you are going thru and hopefulley in him dont give up you are making the devil happy with the discouriment(sp) you are showing. study the bible not only read it fing his messages to you. im 16 and i love him id go thru anything i;d give up all my wordly possesions obviosly you ar'nt try to get close enough to him that you feel the same way.

Think of the man that complained because he had mo shoes, until he met a man who had no feet. The things of earth are just for a moment. Glory awaits those who stay faithful to His word. The only unforgivable sin is the total rejection of God. Go back to Him. Let His peace comfort you. My prayers for you and your family.
