I just turned 43 this this weekend, and I've spent time reflecting on things I've learned.
I know a lot of you have probably heard some of these...but hopefully you'll think about these.

Sensable shoes! I know everyone wants the new styles, but think of how much time you spend on your feet. Don't wait until you wake up crying beacause your feet hurt too bad.

Loud music..I know I used to crank my stereos up loud all of the time. Now, I suffer hearing loss in both ears. Often, I have trouble hearing my granddaughter talking to me. I use the "closed caption" on the TV because of my hearing.

Start saving early! Don't wait until you're my age and older, and have to keep working. When you get a check, pay yourself 1/3 or more of your check. Invest- make your money work for you!

Learn every safety precaution, especially at work. The things some bosses "forget" to tell you could cost you a finger, hand, or your life. A friend of mine got coupled between two train cars, due to not following safety procedures.

Don't get caught in the "Always have to work" mode. Take time for yourself, your family, tell your friends and family how much you care.

If you have to work two jobs, make the second one a volunteer position. Help others.

Always thank the people that help you.
Never take anyone or anything for granted, because they may be gone tomorrow.

Some may think I'm "just an old man", but believe me, you'll be my age at some time. Don't make it too late to take control of your life.

Stay healthy

Good advice - here's one I told my daughter concerning drugs:

A lot of people experiment. If you want to go further, step back for 6 months and watch your friends that are doing drugs. Decide then if you want to do them.

Well, my daughter has had 3 friends die from drugs. 1 from ectasy, 1 od'd on heroin, 1 got beat to death in a drug deal. 5 have died from driving drunk. At 16,she has now gone to too many funerals to think about it.
It's a shame that people of all ages get in over their head.

Dale, my husband of 18 years wrote this.
He passed away on 9/27/02 after battling lung cancer for 7 months.

Sorry for your loss; he sounded like a good man; a shame to see one of them leave at such a young age.

this is all good advice, i am only 11, but i will use this knowledge of what you caring people said wisely and i have never thought doing drugs is "cool" or anything, i think it is stupid to throw your life away for the sake of popularity or reputation.
