I can understand your feelings and how your dignity was not respected, I sincerly hope you can come to terms with what happened.
Author,
1. Be not ashamed.
2. Be not embarrassed.
3. Be not humiliated.
You are not the first and will not be the last. These Doctors, Assistant Doctors, RN, etc; have seen so many that they probably are looking but not seeing. I know, I am a Corp-Man in the Army and knowing these patients are ill, weak and distressed, although beautiful, I cannot imaging getting excited looking at then nude.
Be thankful they helped you to recover
I know it's easy for me to say, but I wouldn't worry too much. The doctors and nurses are there to take care of you. The gowns are designed for easy access, not modesty. I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital on two different occasions, and I remember feeling terrible and struggling to keep the damned gown closed and I limped to the washroom, hanging on the pole carrying the IV bag. More than once a passing nurse told me that I was exposed, but I was struggling too much to care as much as I usually would. The sponge baths were not very dignified either.
I didn't see much of the doctors, but the nurses were excellent. The impression that I got was that they really did care, and that really helped.
