I am a white male 25. In 2001 when I was getting a check up, the doctor noticed a tiny spot on my penis. He told me it looks like herpes. After some tests, a few days later he said it is. He said I have genital HSV-1. I got it while receiving a blowjob from my ex girl. Because, thats the only unprotected sex I ever had. Ever since then, I have been single and I am afraid I will be alone for the rest of my life. I have only been with 2 girls my whole life, the second one gave me herpes. I was a virgin till the age of 22. I am very very shy. Anytime a girl showed interest in me, I would always try to act cool and uninterested. The truth is I was always to shy. Now, I have been alone for close to 3 years and I am very depressed. Its hard enough for me to approach women as it is because of shyness, but with herpes its pretty much impossible for me. I am so depressed, I think about suicide alot. I know that supposedly, 1 in 4 people have herpes, but where the fuck are they. I have checked alot of online herpes dating sites, but its mostly men and older women in there 30's on there. I think its alot easier for women, because I know alot of horny guys that would screw a girl even if she has herpes. I dont even have outbreaks, I went back to the doc, last year, and he said some people never have outbreaks they just carry it. He said I probably have outbreaks, but I don't notice them. Anyway, I am very fucking depressed, and lonely. I think about suicide very often. Whats the point of living, if I'm going to be alone. I'd rather die alone now with some dignity. I'm afraid, that I'll start having sex with hookers when I'm in my 30's,40's and 50's.

I think you need to see a counselor and get some help. This isn't the end of the world. Herpes is not a terminal disease. It puts some limitations on your sex life and is something important for your partner to know before you get intimate with them, but it doesn't make you any less of a person. There are probably a lot of people out there that feel the same way you do that have herpes and I bet there are support groups you can join. Who knows, maybe at one of the support groups you might meet a nice girl who has herpes also and had the same thing happen to her as you did.

But please, talk to a mental health counselor about how you are feeling, because they can help you get in contact with the help you need and help you realize that herpes is the least of your worries in life. You have so much to live for, as I'm sure you're probably a really nice man and have a wonderful personality inside dying to get out underneath this depression encapsulating you. Don't let something like this destroy who you. Please get yourself some help. God bless you, and take care.

You might want to get re-tested again. They're finding now that sometimes herpes tests can get a false positive reading (saying your positive for the disease when in reality you don't have it). You say you don't have any outbreaks of the disease and even though some people with herpes don't have outbreaks, you should still get tested again just to be sure you have it. And I agree with the first poster, you should seek some professional counseling or help. You can use it.

What awful luck...if thats the correct term. Of all the people who regularly take huge risks and then in turn infect unsuspecting lovers that then you are left bearing this heavy burden....BUT all is not lost. You can go on, but you need more imformation. Go out or in (you can get good imfo off the comp) get educated and then armed with up to date technology go and LIVE.
In this world there are not only rotters but good, decent people aswell. I`m sure you can be creative....safety then becomes fun...what do they say....war is the mother of invention. Instead of giving up look at new ways to deal with this blight.
I`m a girl and really, as a female can I just say we`re not all shallow.

Not the end of the world dude; I've had it about the last 20 yrs; have one or two minor outbreaks a yr. As for the hookers..... don't knock them. I've been "seeing" one for 6 yrs and she is BY FAR the best sex partner any guy could ever dream of.
