I dont know that this is a confession more a rant but then I have to confess to not understanding people...My boyfriend has these friends from before we got together (a married couple) and I have made great efforts to be friendly...I wanted to and also or perhaps mainly I love my boyfriend.
Anyway over the course of three years I have grown sick of their bad manners and take take take attitude. Then my boyfriends father had a heart attack and was hurt deeply by his friends failure to call etc, even though they had been informed.
Today they ring me to wish me happy birthday....(shock!!! the first time we hear from them) its a day late but I`m not really interested and go on to tell this person why I do not wish to accept present or card ( I am not a hypocrite) They`ve had problems...as have we all I interject....they have been busy...duh!!! I said I`d get my boyfriend to ring since it wasnt really anything to do with me. Then the fella comes round....so I say you should have been more thoughtfull and since you have shared history I thought it bad not to call about his fathers well being, he looks dumbfounded and it all becomes evident; what am I, a usurper....doing telling them anything about their relationship!!!!! So he says I`m entitled to my oppinion....yes, I am.
My beef is this....they in turn expect so much and give so little....how can people be so blind????
If you then decide the cons of any relationship outway the pro`s and even go so far as to tell them why...and it being so blatantly obvious, why do they then behave all indignant. FOR GODS SAKE!!!!!!!!
The actual story is not important...rather the premise is. This ideal of believing friends are their for your own pleasure makes a mockery of the word friend therefore I confess to being truly perplexed.
