I'm really 15. I've been swiping my mom's playgirl magazines since I was ten. I came out to her when I was 12 and she laughed and said she had known for years and hugged me. At that point I had something in common with my mom, we could talk like mother and daughter about how hot this guy or that guy was even though I'm a guy. I know it is stereotypical but I'm going to be a hair dresser. I'm in the cosmetology program at my vocational high school. I do my Mom's hair all the time and frequently do neighbors and relative's hair as well. I have a thing for hair and keep mine down to my waist like a girl. Turns out a lot of gay guys like girly boys so it works.

OK so here is the problem. I am out to most of my family who has kept it a secret from the family that does not know. Who does not know includes my dad who is an army officer and divorced from my mom. I see him two or three times a year. He is kind of like John Wayne jr. and hates "fags" so I don't know how I am going to tell him about my boyfriend or my career. He does not now I'm going to be a hair dresser. His father is a WWII vet and just as conservative. My other grandfather is not quite as bad but I have not told him yet. Both my grandmother's know and have kept my secret. One grandmother accepts it but does not embrace it. The other grandmother is just happy she doesn't have to pay for visits to the salon. She has met my boyfriend. She says she doesn't understand it but as long as I am happy that is all that counts. She asked me if it meant I wasn't going to have kids. I told her I don't know but had not ruled it out. She just likes little descendants running around and doesn't care how it happens. I have a lesbian friend with whom we have been toying with the idea of reproducing just so we could both have kids but that is years away.

You are pretty young and lots more growing to do. You are lucky to have at least part of your families support. Live your life and don't worry about others. You can't spend your whole life second guessing yourself. Very happy for you.
