Lesbian Female / 19
As a freshman in college I looked for a roommate that was Jewish, I wanted someone that shared this with me. I got matched with this girl from upstate New York, who was a sociology major. I am from the greater Dallas area. When I met her I got this uncomfortable feeling, I was nervous and couldn't speak. I found myself staring at her when she wasn't looking. I also was very upset at some of the things she said, she was very liberal and my family is quite a bit more conservative. I had never been around someone like her. But we were both Jewish, and we had to get along.
As I could drive home over the weekend, and she had to fly home, she spent a lot of weekends with me and my family. I had gotten over being uncomfortable around her and when she went off the deep end with some of her ideas I didn't have a problem letting her know that not everyone felt the way she did.
Her older sister was getting married and she asked me to go with her, she wanted a friend around, at least that is what she said. We flew to New York and because of all the guests we shared her room and she and I slept together. When her mother came to wake us up, we were tied in a knot, legs and arms all wound around each other. This was the day before the wedding and her mother was very upset. After we came down for breakfast, she and her father took us into the den and sat us down and asked what was going on. We said that nothing was going on, but her mother noticed that with the large couch in the den, we were sitting side by side, shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip. Bottom line she told us we couldn't sleep together under her roof.
That next night I slept on the couch in the den.
At the wedding we sat together and spent our time with each other.
On the flight home she was very quiet, answering in single words. But we sat together and we didn't have the arm rest down. When we got back to our apartment, I asked her if she was OK. She said yes, but she didn't want me to break her heart. I told her I would never break her heart. She asked me if we were going to sleep together, and I said yes, if she wanted to, I wanted her to sleep with me. She asked me if I was going to tell my parents about us, I said yes if that is what she wanted me to do.
We told my parents who were a bit more understanding than hers.
We still can't sleep together at her parent's home. They are very liberal, but not about that. We have 'come out' publically. This is our first romantic relationship and we don't want to ruin it. If we were a boy/girl relationship I am sure we would not be living together, it just so happens that we started as roommates.
We went down to the lake near the school, and waited for sunrise and held each other's arms and said out loud that we loved each other. Just us two, and God.
