My boss fired me a few months ago. I liked the job but then he decided to change my job description to include several skills I don't have and then fired me for not having those skills. Since he fired me I can't collect unemployment. But the jokes on him. I kept detailed notes and records of not only how I did my job but of all the inner workings of how that little company did everything and even got his customer list. Basically, I stole all his proprietary secrets. Not so much stole them, he gave them to me since it was my job to know them while I was there. So I brought all that to my new boss and he hired me on the spot and used all that information to not only compete with my old boss but virtually put him out of business. He went from a 30 employee company with $5m a year revenue to a 5 employee company with $500k a year in revenue and my new employer nearly doubled his business and hired most of the employees from my old job. My old boss had to sell his mansion and Mercedes and now he lives in a crappy condo and drives an old Buick.

Getting fired is exactly what unemployment is for though. It's if you quit that you can't claim it. :p

To the person who posted comment 1,

That depends on the state you work in. If you get fired in my state, it is considered the fault of the employee so you don't qualify for unemployment. It's called employment at will. They can fire you pretty much for any reason they want. The only way to collect unemployment in my state is to be officially laid off which I was not. I'm guessing you are from a very liberal state that has nice labor laws. We have no labor laws in my state. we only have federal labor laws. Zero protection for employees. That is why it was a big deal for me to land the new job and get revenge.
