I am the accounting manager for a manufacturing company. We had an opening for a degreed junior accountant. After interviewing several candidates a Hispanic woman in the purchasing department asked me to interview her niece. She does have a degree from a very second rate college, and she interviewed poorly. Her language skills are deficient and she was unable to answer key concept questions. I gave her the job because she is incredibly pretty and sexy in an adorable way. I let my emotions get in the way. She is definitely not qualified, I have her working with another girl to hold her hand. I told her mentor that she is a minority and needs a break. But it's hopeless, even as a clerk she won't do. My full charge employee is pulling her hair out. The girl is over affectionate verbally and physically, not just with me but with her mentor too. She likes to fix hair and her mentor finds herself having her hair done. She is a professional dependent, and has us both looking after her. Her mentor is a smart girl but wants to keep trying, she is committed to get her on track. I am embarrassed to go to HR and admit my mistake, that I hired her for her looks.
