My father is a well known public figure. We, his family, are virtually unknown on purpose. Growing up using only our mother's maiden name, living in middle America, our station in life attributed to my Granddad supporting us. Now that I am out of college, actually all three kids are out of college, I find that my Dad is not who people think he is. He is everything but what the public sees, his public image is a persona, to us he is not just Dad he is Daddy.

I am posting this because public figures adopt a persona, but who they really are is a carefully kept secret. So I am anonymous, if you heard my name you would never put two and two together.

Interesting. I'm glad you get some peace and anonymity from the situation. I don't think I'd be able to handle the scrutiny that public figures are subjected to.

My mother was a sought after CW singer in her youth. She suffered mentally from all the unwanted attention. Her performance were brilliant, but her personal life wasn't. She disappeared into the sunset at 27, following my father who took her away and they settled in Europe where they had their children. My father who is some years older than my mother protects her and keeps her history in the background.

None of us are really Euro brats, except by birth. We are Americans in just about every way. When my sister tried out for the stage my father pushed her away, do something different, but not that. All her siblings agree. She lives with me while she is attending the university here in New York. I hate having to be her older brother here, but I am her older brother and she will get over the siren songs calling her to the stage.
