My neighbor has 6 kids and him and his wife live in a 2 bedroom house. He is the meanest person I have ever met in my life. I suffer from sever depression (they know this, we live in a small town) and believe me he is on a cursade to drive me to the loony bin, and I'm almost there. He calls my kids heathens, he tells us to move, his kids are outside from 8am in the morning till 8pm at night YELLING & SCREAMING all day long no matter what the weather is like. I have tried everything to ignore them, headphones, loud music, privicy fences, you name it. He calls the police on us if my son and I argue and then he calls DCFS (son is 19). I would give my soul to move, but this is our first home and we are financially unable to move right now. Just this week I had a breakdown from trying to keep it all under control. My husband and I have apoligized several times to them, they just ignor us. I walk outside and he tells his kids, "OK you guys can be loud now". He watches from his windows. They really get off on upsetting me. It's like a game to him. Only mentally I can not keep it going. Do I give up my first home I had worked so long to get and probably never have another one?

Legally, 8 AM to 8 PM is not an outrageous time for kids to be outside making noise. If they live in an 2 bedroom place, the kids really do need to be outside --imagine what a zoo it would be if they were all inside!

You can't do much about kids playing outside and making noise during the day but it almost sounds like you have a case agains the father. It sounds like he is harassing you. Unfounded calls to the authorities over your arguments with an adult and telling his kids to make noise to annoy you is considered harassment. Get a lawyer or legal assistance. If you have financial difficulties, there are places that provide legal help pro bono.

I know how that is...I grew up next to a family like that.
Take a look at some of the soundproofing websites, for a small investment you should be able to reduce to amount of noise to reasonable levels.
If you do have a complete breakdown, make sure to burn their house to the ground and blame it on the mental breakdown - you may not even be prosecuted.

Best of luck
