I Fully Regret Vacating My Pregnancy
I am a 57 year old lesbian who is recovering from cancer surgery for ovarian cancer removing all my reproductive organs. I will also need a full mastectomy as I have the BRCA gene. After these surgeries everything that defined me as a viable woman will be gone. If a prostate cancer patient also had to surrender their testicles and penis it would be devastating. Loosing my ovaries, uterus, breasts is devastating to me.
On my side is a man who has held my hand for 35 years, bailed me out, protected me, consoled me. He is married to my cl8sest friend, one time lover, who is the love of my life. They are my life. When I woke up from surgery they were with me in my recovery room.
My death bed confession is that when we were in our twenties I became pregnant by him and I aborted rather than deliver a child for him. Neither he nor the love of my life know I was pregnant at one time. It is my biggest regret. And this surgery taking my reproductive organs is especially hard on me. Once a long time ago I was a possible mother, but being a young lesbian woman I froze with fear and did the unthinkable.
