I hate my neighbor! This guy and his family recently moved into our neighborhood and up until a couple weeks ago I never really was bothered by them. Some of my elderly neighbors really disliked his teenage sons because they ride ATVs pretty fast on the streets and it scares them when they are walking and I can't blame them for not liking it. But I don't do much walking around the neighborhood so I don't notice them much I work full time and attend school so when I'm home it's a much appreciated thing to sit down, haha! Well I have a dog and he is usually confined mostly for his protection because there is no leash law in my area when you are outside of city limits and I am two miles outside of city limits. But I keep him in a pen anyways to avoid him getting into other people's yards and tipping over trash etc...
Well one day he got out and unfortunately I was working and didn't know and during that time I guess he and this neighbor's dog who was also out and is usually out. I don't think they put this dog up until they go to bed at night and I'm not sure they do then, anyways my dog and his dog started fighting over food they'd found while they were out. Now this guy never came and talked to me about it but I heard from another neighbor who thought I'd like to know what happened. He tells me the dogs are fine and I can see my dog is fine but that the neighbor's dog was bitten on his tail and his owner took him to the vet. Well I'm so upset and worried and I put my dog up and fix the problem that allowed him escape to begin with and just decide to wait for this guy to come tell me what happened I figured I'd offer to help him pay his vet bills even though both dogs were unconfined I figured I'd be neighborly about it and I was really worried about the dog I'm a real animal lover.
So I'm waiting and here comes the lovely Sheriff's Department up to my home ranting to me about whether my dog had all his shots and how I can never let him out again or I'll be arrested all this time no one has asked my side of the story and won't hear anything I have to say. After all this I go inside I'm literally freaking out and angry desperate for my husband to just come home from work and really scared of my neighbor now who has obviously freaked out. Finally my hubby comes home I calm down and go to bed, nothing else I can do right. Next day I go to work, I work for a law firm, I decide to take it upon myself to call one of the local vets who is really close to our neighborhood on a chance he took his dog there. He did and I'm basically laughed at I'm told his dog is fine and that he was bascially charged an exam fee and it was very cheap but they can't give me exact $$ amounts cause it's confidential. But in their opinion they didn't see how I was responcible being his dog was loose as well. Well I felt better and immediately went and spoke to a one of the attorney's here who also informed me that everything was probably fine and if I got contacted by authorities again to let him know. So I go home for lunch to check on my dog and I do get contact by authorities again and this time in the midst of their rant about my dog never getting out again and me being fined how this man's dog was close to death and I was going to have to pay an enormous vet bill I almost lost it I spoke to the vet, so I ask this officer if he'd even see this other dog, he says no, well I'm like okay well I feel like I'm being bullied here you don't even have my side of it and you've not even seen the dog, he apologized but quickly followed with I better not ever let my dog out again and informed me that my neighbor was a in court at work so I started to wonder, turns out my neighbor is a deputy sheriff! HMMMMMMMM No wonder nothing seemed to be handled properly. Somebody was using some serious conections to scare me, this dude was for sure going to try and take me for few dollars, he probably thought I was an idiot. During my meeting with the officer I also asked him why my neighbor just didn't come talk to me instead of immediately contacting authorities because I was happy to do whatever I could with in reason to work this out with him and I was informed BY LAW ENFORCEMENT that if he had to come down here there was going to be an "altercation" so basically now my neighbor is threatening me a woman home alone at the time through the sheriff's deputy! It became so obvious he was using his connections to scare me and these guys had no real charges or case against me both dogs were out it was an accident and the dogs were not hurt! I go back to work and have my attorney contact the officer that came to see me at lunch and before I knew it everything had changed and I must have misunderstood no charges were being filed and I was under no permanant orders oh everything was just freaking wonderful now. I never heard from any of them again not saying I won't cause this just happened a couple weeks ago but so far so good and if I do I have several of my lawyers cards he'll just get one of those and he can call him. But I'm still not letting my dog out cause this crazy fool will probably try and kill him.
