Oh how I miss the days before the neighbor from hell and her equally obnoxious dog bought the condo below us. She has one of those rat dogs who's high-pitched bark could literally shatter glass. She let's the dog out on her balcony at all ours of the night and day and it is directly below our bedroom. She never puts in on a leash and she never cleans up after it. The final straw was last night when the dog barked from 10:30 until 1 in the morning.
She sings this bizarre high-pitched opera music at the top of her lungs when she's in the shower at 5 am and the dog then starts to bark. Last night was the final straw and we called the cops.

She totally freaks us out because she is highly aggressive. She screams at me all of the time for things that I don't even understand. I seriously think that she is mentally unstable. I hear her talking to herself and then she answers herself in a really bizarre voice. She freaks me out so badly that I checked public records to see if she had a record and surprise surprise, she recently served 15 days in jail, 2 years probation and 2 years of court ordered anger management classes because she attacked someone after she was in a car accident.

She is a parking lot nazi and is always screaming at people about parking. She got in a physical altercation with someone who parked in a space that she has deemed hers. She will seriously come outside and scream at anyone who parks in "her" spot, even if she is not parked there. We do not have assigned parking in our association so you can see why this is such bizarre behavior.

The funniest thing ever was a few months ago when she had 2 signs next to her door which were placed directly next to each other. One sign said "Beware! Keep Out!" with a picture of a menacing barking dog. The sign directly below it was a "country-kitchy" picture of a painted, smiling cat that said "Welcome". Wow....just wow.....

On the one hand - you don't have to put up with harrassing and physically assaultive neighbors - there are laws that provide remedy for that sort of non-productive interaction and no one is stopping you from availing yourself from that course of action.

On the other hand, the closer we come into proximity with what are essentially 'strangers', the sooner we notice their - eccentricities.
Sooner or later, the rancher on his/her 500+ acre domicile will have some dispute with the distant neighbors.
