I hate my neighbors. I live in a duplex. It is by far the worse mistake I have ever made. I really had had no choice I have two kids and could not afford a house and apt. I figured would be worse. It started almost immeadatly after we moved in. The day we moved in I had a few buddies help us with our stuff he came home and asked us if we needed help. we were about done so a said "no" but he could have some pizza and beer he and his family helped themselves and went inside a few miniutes later he slamed his window. to much noise I guess. A few days later I came home and him and hi wife were out front talking to my wife telling her about rules of the property and what there boundaries are. Saying that when they had company over we should go in our house if they are outside and that if they are eating supper outside we should go inside. Also that they go to bed at 8:oopm and we should be quite after that and know baths or showers, because it disturbed their 11 yr old kid.

Soon the ignorant comments and remarks started. These piss me off the most because I really do try to keep to myself, but be neighborly. They would range from comments about the children being loud, okay I could accept that, to why I work two jobs to support my family and help pay for my wives college, that my wife should not wear her bathing suite while watching the children in the kiddie pool on our side of the house. One of my all time favorites was that during the day, I have a 4 and 2 year old and my wife stays at home with them, that his wife was stressed out because she could hear my kids. It was implied that we should put them in day care. On numerous occasion They commented on things my wife and I talked about in the priavacy of our on home, after having admiting that when they are in there back room, with a little effort, they can hear us talk some times.

Shortley after that it really begain. Banging and pounding on the walls. stomping up the stairs usually when I was at work. I did not really believe my wife this was going on because they really seemed nice, most of the time I just blew some of the comments of to a little rudness my thats how they were raised. I mean there kids were over all the time playing they would asked to borrow stuff. Well one day I was home my car in the garage and sure enough around 5:00 pm the slamming and banging started. We have solid doors that go to the basement and when those things slam it shakes the wall. We once had company over on halloween it was around three p.m they started repeatedly slamming there door. Then left. I confronted him the next day as calm as could be. he started laughing saying that yes he had done this on purpose. Well the slamming stoped but all the other crap just kept on happening.

Untill my wives friend came over and parked her car in front off the house. Now mind you there are at least 6 spots in front of the house and 4 cars between us. he moved his car to block our friend in and came over and told my wife it was to teach us a lesson.

That was it I Knocked on his door he came out and I went off on him. He them proceeded to call the police on me and and say he felt threaten for his and his families life. None of which was true, but in his drama queen classic style. he was going to teach us a lesson.

Well I havew had with these people I think they are moving in a less than a year. I could Write a book about the mean crap they have said and done the stories they have told people about us. You know there was a time when I would not even let my kids play in the house anything over a whisper I made them go to there room, but no more. We went out of our way to be good neighbors. They still make rude comments and give us the silent treatment when they get mad for whatever you never can tell. I know they have had problems with other neighbors over the years and they continue to live in multiy family dwellings.

If the neighbor doesn't own the duplex, why in the hell would you listen to him in the first place? You sound like a nutcase.

Up until your reaction to the "blocked car" episode it sounds like you might have had good reason to complain about the harrassment. Now it would probably end up a wash if you tried to get any legal redress.

A rule of thumb about these neighbor disputes runs thus: - First guy to call the cops and get the dispute on record - usually wins.

Maybe they will leave fairly soon.
