I hate my neighbor because from the very first time we moved in our home they have harassed us. The first incident was that they let their dog shit in front of my front door step, the second incident which has been ongoing was that they would leave their van or truck parked across the street from my driveway for 30 to 60 days without getting in or out of it. Now some may say that is not so bad but what you all do not know is the street we live on is not the wide which made it hard for me to back out. The city even came out to do a survey and put no parking signs in that vicinity, but somehow this idiot got together a petition to have the signs taken down and the same councilman who personally called me himself to tell me that my neighbor's had this petition. Meanwhile the councilman was the same person that made it possible for the petition to be processed and they had the signs that the city deemed necessary removed. As time went on they had a driveway put in but they still continued to harass me with the parking by watching our coming and our going, so what they would do is when would leave the house, they would park the same vehicle in front of the driveway, and they would not move it for weeks. It got so bad that I had to call the police to have their tires marked and the police did in fact mark their tires.
Lastly, I got new sewer pipes put into the house this idiot takes it upon himself to call the sewer dept. and now their going to dig a 5X5 whole directly in front of my driveway, which means that I will have to drive across the grass and treelawn to get in and out of my driveway. It kind of makes me wonder if he has a mental problem because my neighbor seems to think this is his house. Oh and I am not done he parked his big boat or yacht the size of a small condo right up against my fence in the backyard and they have a pet pig and this not a rural area or the country it is very much a city. Well I guess I am through with this but have to say my neighbor along with the other neighbor's think they are smart but what goes around comes around and someone needs to award them with the most Nasty Person Award and in parenthesis it should say Nasty People Suck!

I think that your neighbor's are ridiculous! You should move and forget them!

They sound like real assholes who have it coming to them and I hope you STAY and they end up MOVING and if they stay I hope they get people who are just like them to be their neighbor's so they will know exactly how it feels to be inconvenienced.

Well, you can 1)ignore them, 2)build a fence (within city ordinance constraints - & either build it well on your side of the property line or be sure to get your property surveyed beforehand - $$$$), 3)move($$$), or 4)you will have to take some actual legal action against them($$), which you have not followed through with.

It only encourages boorish behaviour when you threaten, threaten - and then threaten again - and your threats begin to ring hollow. Just ask your kids.

You have several actionable complaints which you could conceivably research the appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, etc., and file for on your own, but from the general reading of your post, you will probably have to pay for legal action through an attorney before you can fend off the boors in your particular neighborhood.

Even accomplishing that, you probably won't have any particular "peace of mind", knowing that if your house is broken into, in your absence, the neighbors won't lift a finger to prevent - or even report the incident - much less serving as useful witnesses.

If it's any comfort, most 'hoods are just like yours - even in an initially "friendly" neighborhood, sooner or later, someone is going to get rubbed the wrong way.

It happens even waa-ay out in the countryside.

It is a constant source of amazement to me that people get along as well as they do anywhere, but it is only fear of the law that keeps people in check. If you can keep on the right side of that ally, friend, you've got the biggest bully anywhere on your side.

There is apparently(i.e., according to your post) a definite pattern to the harrassment. Record it in whatever way you can, but have dates and police reports of all the incidents you can document. After the dust has settled,it will probably cost you around $750. - $1500.00+(some, all, in addition of which might be recovered for damages, mental anguish, etc. Keep in mind that if it really does go to court you are throwing dice) for an attorney to represent you so be prepared.
You really might be better off to really consider the advantages of moving.
