I lived in a flat a year ago now, with my partner and our two year old daughter, my neighbours who lived below complained about everything!from me walking across the floor at 11am to get a bottle for my daughter (who was a baby then) me playing with my daughter on her playmat, me shuting a kitchen cupboard, my partner coming home from work at 4pm (because him walking into our flat apparenlty was loud and she couldnt hear her tv!?!?) having the TV even on or radio etc.
Then she started coming and bang on the door and yelling at me for all things above, saying that they were too loud! at first i started being polite and just saying well you know its a flat, i know sound travels etc.
any slight noise that was made, she complained about, she even said that we had a weekend long party, ( we were away that weekend!)
Then we my daughter was about 6 months she started that wonderful stage of teething! the bitch reported me to social services because my daughter was crying for more than 10 minutes! Then came up and had another go at me for her crying, now by this point i was mad as hell, im a excellent mum and take great care of my daughter and i wont have some old spiteful cow say otherwise!
I let her have it and said i was fed up with her crap and how fucking dare she report me to social services anyway she smacked me across the face and said how dare i speak to her like that and her and her husband had been there longer and THEY owned their flat while we rented, so she was going send her husband up to sort me out properly!
So I called the police, who did fuck all, because shes old! anyway we were the ones who were forced to move. I hope she fucking drops dead soon.

I guess you're British from your idiom, but here in the good old U.S.A. she would have been beaten up or shot by now.

I am so sorry. We were up stair neighbors and we went through similar things. I even went as far as to place blankets on the floor to help with the sound.

Final they were down in their rent and they were asked to leave.

I would think about moving if you can. Peace of home is very important.

If you must be at war return the favor and call on her every other dad. Call for everything you think of.

Consider videoing yourself doing something that is reasonable but that has ticked her off before. Them record her banging and caring on.

Show this to the police, landlord, or lawyer...

I wish you well.

Thankyou for your replies, yes im british :) i cant seem to find a UK site like this!

Thankyou for your ideas, I did keep a log of bangings and her coming to the door, but apparently that wasnt enough, The police only believe she hit me, by the mark on my face and the deep mark on my neck! But anyway we have moved, Now i feel sorry for the next people that have to live above her!

I mean why live in a basement flat, if you cant stand any form of noise! ( before anyone says, she or her husband had no trouble walking or such)
