I was so happy. We had boys about the same age. There was enough common interest to build on a real friendship.

We loaned them our blender and some movies. Hey we were being friends and neighbors.

Then they moved. Did they say a word to us? No. Did we get our stuff back before they moved? No.

I ask around and find out that they come back and visit but not us.

I found out were they were staying. It was only about four or five blocks away.
I go over several times trying to catch her home. I final did. She was very nice and gave us almost everything back. Expect for the lid for the blender.

I had my cell phone with just incase she gave me shit I ready to call the police. But it did not come that. Thank goodness.

ANy they move back. Cool. Our boys play more together. Its all good.

Then her son asks if they can borrow a movie. They have not cable, so they do not have a way watch TV. Not my fault. I say and tell clear with trying hard to not show any anger in my words. "No the last time I loaned you my things I did not get them back for months."

He comes over in the morning the following day and asks, "Do you have any coffee?"

I say, " Yes."

He says. "Can my mom borrow some?"

I say, "No."

He hasn't come over sense.

I felt bad about the coffee. But we too are on a tight funds and it real is the only thing I buy just for myself. I might have been okay with it, but for three things. One: What happened last time. Two: It"s not like she a friend I am a friend talks with you while you drink the coffee.

And Three: We are doing our dishes in the laundry. (We have a major leak in our bathroom so until we can afford to repair our water is off.) Many folks do their dishes in the laundry room. My husband was doing some dishes for our family and my son see the lid for our blender just sitting on one side of the sink. He grabs it and brings it home. Sure enough it fits and appears to our top to our blender. WHAT?! They couldn't walk the extra steps to give back to us? We only got it back by chance.

I wish them no ill will but we are not friends. And if we are by some strange definition in her book, I would hate to see how she would treat me if we weren't.

I'm glad I don't live next to you.

What if their kid was using that blender lid to practice playing hockey so he could play professionally when he grows up? Now he can't practice and you've doomed him to a life of sitting around playing video games.

Some people are SO selfish. You should offer them the blender top back and apologize.

You guys are fucked! The "borrowing neighbors" are assholes.
I will not lend again either, however my reasons were not merely for a blender and coffee.....we are talking...eggs,milk,butter, syrup, tampons, help me move this..can you babysit for 9 hours...whatever.

The last time they sent their son to 'borrow" something, my husband handed him a sheet of paper with a map he drew to the nearest convenient store.

Rather than let your neighbors borrow stuff, you my friend should ask them for a library card and learn a little bit about spelling and proper grammar.

I'm sorry you had such annoying neighbors.
This is to the rude grammar and syntax person who corrected your post (and did a poor job of it.) You left out some commas. Commas are very important. You should have written, "You, my friend, should ask them for a library catd."
See? Much better. Now go back to atttempting to prop up your sagging ego by picking on strangers on the internet.

They borrow tampons? Eww. Seriously, I don't think anyone here is advocating that you continue loaning them anything. You're right - they are selfish people and you have every right to your stuff. Your examples made the situation seem like less of a problem than it apparently was.

As for the comment about their kid practicing hockey with your blender cap, I'm sorry that you didn't get the joke.

I think handing them a map to the convenience store was a cool idea. I'm not sure I would have thought of it.
