I stupidly gave her our phone number when we moved in because she put on a sweet old woman facade. Now I think she goes through bipolar phases. She calls me up all the time screaming that I put plants in her trash cans (um, don't you think is was your gardener??), that she "sees" people on my roof, that spies are out to get her and that I'm behind all of it, and that she keeps a notebook on my comings and goings. To make it all more surreal, she rattles off times and dates that people have visited my house or when I've driven off. I added called ID to my phone which has knocked off the calls, but she still peers through her mini-blinds at our house so much that you can see them bent permanently in several places. She pulls out of her driveway in her car and sits in the street in front of our house trying to stare in. I can see the top of her sliding glass door from the side of our house, and when we go out to have coffee on the patio, you can see the sliding door open sooooo sloooowly and hear her trying to ooze out quietly to listen on the other side of the wall in order to hear what we are talking about. Then she repeats whatever she's heard (or thinks she's heard) to her gardener, pool boy and handymen. She's so creepy! We're a reasonably normal family doing family things -nothing of real interest here- but she thinks we're devils putting hexes on her. Seriously!

I think the paranoia can come from dementia. You might want to contact adult protective services just to make both of your lives easier. If she doesn't have a caretaker close by she sounds like she needs a guardian. It's possible she needs medical care that she's not getting. As they say, crazy people don't know they're crazy. APS will go and talk with her anonymously and call you to let you know what's going on. Otherwise, (you shouldn't have to move) just cut her off and ignore her.

neither bipolar or dementia , i have studied in these subjects for awhile now , if anything this sounds like classic textbook psychosis coupled with schizophrenia .. given her age i would do as above suggested maybe they could check if she is taking correct meds and/or whether she may need to be

assesed and/or admitted to hospital .. you would not only be doing yourselves a favour but also possibly stopping this lady from harming herself or in an extreme case others.
