It's not good for cats to let them roam. They get into fights with other cats, get run over by cars, get bitten by rabid animals and eat things that make them sick. I'm sure your cats are spayed or neutered but many aren't and the unwanted kittens become feral.
Your neighbor's behavior was very rude to you and I can understand why you're angry, I'm just
concerned about the safety of your cats.
So you let your cats roam anywhere they like and you're upset that someone wants to protect their property from your (and others) cats? That just crazy talk. He has every right to keep any cats away that he likes. It would be different if he were leaving poisoned bait to kill them. But repellent?
Yes, he may be a rude jerk, but to get sympathy on your side, try to think of (or make up) an example where you're not misbehaving worse than he is. I'm sure there is (or you can make up) something.
You said it! I hope that old man fucks that bitch's cats up the you know what!
Please try putting yourself into the old guy's place for just a minute.
You asked him straight up if your cats were a problem, and he was honest and said yes. I don't think that was cheeky, it was probably very hard to say it to your face but he did it.
He didn't lecture you about your cats. I agree with the other people who responded. If you really care for your animals, you will not let them roam. They can get hurt, and they can in turn cause damage. Regardless of what your other neighbors are doing and how many other cats are roaming, yours are causing a problem.
Wanting him to die isn't really facing the issue that you are causing. He even came to your door to try to clarify the answer to a question that you asked, but you weren't even polite enough to go talk to him.
At least he's using repellent and not shooting them like some of MY neighbors do. In fact, one of my neighbors traps animals and just lets them die of hunger and thirst, then throws them out.
If you really want to solve several problems, keep your cats inside. And please, don't be so harsh on the old guy.
Well, what can I say - seems like I'm in the wrong. However, I dont live in the uSA where it seems the common practice is to declaw cats which is VERY cruel and also to keep cats inside is a very cruel practice. Also, like I said in my first post, there are other cats in the neighbourhood and I think solely blaming my cats is not the answer. Of course I dont want him to die - I was venting spleen when I wrote the post and I have since calmed down about the whole matter. My neighbor and I have also spoken on calm terms and he actually said that he wished he hadn't put the repellant down as (in his own words) he realised how harmful it is to the environment. He has since put up netting over his grow brags and also confessed that he doesn't actually think it is my cats that are the problem. I actually have a litter tray in my utility that the cats use.
As for the poster who said about hope he fucks my cats up the arse - I hope someone fucks you up the arse mate, good and hard until you bleed to death you stupid cunt!
Undoubtedly it was a number of cats getting into his stuff. Maybe yours, maybe others. Regardless, the repellent wasn'ta bad idea. Maybe that was dangerous repellent - I've seen several brands that are natural plant products that do no harm to anything. I have no idea what brand he found.
A calm head is always the best way to approach a problem. As a responsible cat owner, you need to do what you can to keep your cats happy, safe and from doing damage to other people's property. I agree that declawing a cat and letting it outside is cruel. The claws are the cat's only real defense.
I'm glad that you made peace with the fellow. If he hasn't finished putting up the protective netting, offer to give him a hand. That will demonstrate that you want peace.
It is not good for cats to roam. they get injured by dogs and wild animals. They get in fights with other cats. They eat poison and get run over by cars. Letting cats roam drastically shortens their lifespans.
Not everyone in the USA has their cats declawed. I agree it is cruel. But what does that have to do with your problem with your neighbor?
Judging by your original post and your response to one of the replies, I'd say you have serious anger issues. Rage can drastically shorten YOUR lifespan. Bring your cats inside and get some exercise and practice relaxation techniques, You'll all live longer.
