I am with you on this one....
I agree with you to a point. Back in the good ole days, people who had menial jobs were just as kind and considerate as one who was a CEO. Unfortunately, this is a new breed of poor. Many believe that life dealt them a bad hand and so they feel they have nothing to lose so who cares what others think? Everything is owed to them and if they have to act like jerks, so be it. Todays society is one of greed and selfishness, rich or poor. Unfortunately our society tolerates it for fear of retaliation.
I agree,I don't think it matters how prestigious your job is as long as you work hard, take care of yourself and your community, and are a good person. Some people just aren't that ambitious, and it really isn't anyone's business but their own, as long as they aren't hurting anyone.
We are the "poor" family on our block --meaning we don't make six figures. However, my husband and I both work and we are comfortable. However, over the past two years, we've faced complaints from the neighborhood association about things that virtually everyone on the block does. I've actually documented with photographs things that we were fined for, but our wealthier neighbors got away with. But the president of the neighborhood association won't listen. I can only assume the reason is money.
If you live in a neighborhood where people make 6 figures, you can't be that bad off. Or maybe you work 12 jobs, who knows. If your hoemowners assoc. president will not listen to you and is accusing you of violations that others are doing, then you can take them to court for harassment. If you have pictures then you have proof.
People are people no matter their income, many of them are pretty bad, some are decent people. The people who are poor today are not a "new breed of poor". That is some BS racially charged language, and it shows a lack of wisdom. There are a lot of people out there who now seem to think if someone doesn't have a degree they are stupid. Funny, many of the most successful people in the world don't have a degree. Bill Gates comes to mind.
