What Is It With Men And Their Wives?

I got involved with a man at work, married so no strings attached. It was friends with benefits, sex. His wife found out because he was careless. He said she wanted to meet me, see if she approved. WTF! Seemed she liked to watch.

It cured me. Never again. Then I fell for this guy. A real square, father type. He was nice, cared for me. Made love, not sex. It went on for a year, then two. I had my thirtieth birthday, he gave me a car. I didn't know what to say, how could he afford to give me a car?

We went out on a weeknight, weekends were family only. But his wife showed up. She was nice, talked about my future. Life, kids, a home. How was I going to get that when I slept with a married man. And, enjoy the car, she didn't want me in a piece of crap breaking down.

She left, kissed her husband, told him not to be late.

It got cold. I lost interest. He said she knew when to end it, the car was a goodbye present.

Thirty is a rotten age. Too old to be a honey, too young to be on your own.
