Living In Sin
Living in sin. I met him at work. He was older, respected, good looking, a gentleman. He carefully and intentionally seduced me, bit by bit, until I got on my knees to suck his dick. He looked down at me approvingly. I looked up adoringly, intent on proving to him I could suck and make him climax.
I waited for him on a Friday morning, dressed for church, at the County Court House. He arrived late and wasn't dressed for the occasion. He stood away from me, told me that in college he had married a girl in Las Vegas. They lived together for five years before separating. He had tried to get an annulment but failed. She would not give him a divorce, period.
From a high to a low in five minutes, from love to hate, from approval to disappointment. He said 'we will just have to live together'. Live in sin.
I looked up this girl, a woman really, his check deposited in her bank account, she issued him an allowance. She paid the bills, she scheduled his dentist appointment. She dealt with the maid service that cleaned his apartment. She bought his underwear. She knew about me, late to the party she wasn't about to give him to me, surrender his name to some girl. Did I understand? She was his wife, I was his girlfriend.
I could live in sin, deal with the maids, wash his underwear. But never have his name and if I was foolish enough, any children were out of wedlock. And for my information, she planned to get pregnant, his first born would come from her womb, not mine.
A woman's claim on a man is often tenuous, her place beside him, one step behind, her bed at times empty, his children with her born of that 'other woman'. Sin, that's what it is, living in sin. But a woman doesn't hold all the cards, she can only play the hand she has. His wife bore him his firstborn son, his other woman his first daughter. She collects his paycheck, she now gives her the allowance. And from time to time, his wife buys her underwear.
