It Was In The Stars, That's How I Explain It

I was out back tending laundry on the line. We lived near an air base, and I saw two planes hit each other. The bottom plane crashed with the pilot. The other pilot bailed out and I watched him float down and his plane crash.

Years later I was in college and I overheard a fellow student comment about our teacher, how he had survived a plane crash when he was in the army. I had to ask him. He confirmed the story, and we became friends. More than friends, he overwhelmed me and had sex with me. After sex he would talk about it, how his flight buddy didn't make it.

He taught math, algebra to freshmen, higher math up the line. He was working on his doctorate, and I was a freshman. He joked about me being a freshman, get it, 'fresh meat'. Where he went I went. We went to see where his flight buddy was buried. We went back to the airbase, no one cared, no one remembered. All along he 'took it out on me'. I took it out on him.

Well after he had his doctorate and I was a teacher we got married. We don't talk about it any more. One was lucky, the other one wasn't. That's how he explained it.
