Wife And I Have Been On A 30-day Break To Save Our Marriage

She broke down on Valentine's Day, saying she was frustrated with me and that our marriage wasn't working.

We had a long, tearful argument. She suggested a 30-day break so we could each work on ourselves. I was dead set against it. The idea of being away from her for a month gnawed my heart.

Now that I am a few weeks in, I am loving it. I found a nice AirBnB. I don't have to deal with her nagging or her moods. I don't have to pick up everything immediately as if living in a museum.

But the best part is that I've had more sex these past few weeks than in the past few years of the marriage. It turns out I'm not a bad guy after all. Lots of women on the apps have come over for sexy time.

Some are younger than my wife. I've been seeing this 23-year-old grad student on a semi-regular basis (we're not exclusive and she knows I hook up in between). We're both starting to have feelings and I could see wanting more with her.

I pull out with most of these girls but with her I haven't been. I suppose deep down inside I'm hoping we're pregnant, which would make me reevaluate with my wife.

Bros with relationship issues, I highly recommend a break so that you can refocus!

It sounds like you're working on your next marriage, not your current marriage.

Agreed. Your taken your 30 days and created a new life and done nothing to mend the old one! Have you checked in on your wife to see if she's genuinely working on making your marriage stronger? Or, has she spent the time whoring as well? Are there kids involved? Explaining to a ten year old that you're dumping mommy for a college slut might be tricky! Anyway, hope it all works out.

It's great until new girl chases her dreams and you're older, single, and you're not as much of a catch. The dating pool gets real thin after you turn 40 to 45, and what is out there isn't worth the time.

If you're happy alone, be alone with the occasional person, don't bet your happiness on someone. High chances you'll lose. And 23 year old aren't the most stable and you'll get a few years before they leave at best

This is terrible advice IF you actually want to work on your marriage. Usually if one partner says they want a break, they already have someone else in mind they are wanting to be with or hookup with at a minimum. So chances are your wife is getting ran through while on her break, just as you are having your fun.

Might be fun at the moment but what if you both get back together and your wife “becomes pregnant” soon after?!? Chances are she’s going wild as well.

I’ve learned over the years if a partner says they want a break, the relationship is already over bc many people monkey branch in today’s world and they have already made plans to move on.

Your wife is getting her brains fucked out, enjoy what you’re doing.

Seagull and the anon commentators, thanks for your advice.

I'm feeling that my marriage has run its course.

If something happens with the 23-year-old, I need it to last long enough to carry me through the divorce and give me time to heal afterward. It doesn't have to be forever. But you're right that a girl that young isn't likely to stick around.

I guess the baby thing would complicate matters. On one hand, she'd be more likely to stay with me, and on the other, co-parenting would be messy if she did leave me after a few years.

One way or the other, I need a kick to get out of my marriage. These past few weeks have shown me what's out there.

Xander, when your break ends, tell your wife the marriage is finished, even if your 23yo GF isn't pregnant yet. Then, go enjoying finishing the job of making her a young mother!

I was 46 when I left my wife of 24 years for a 19yo girl. It's been amazing. More sex than I can handle. No nagging. We play video games together! I wasn't sure I'd have the energy to look after little ones again at my age, but our 3 babies always put a smile on my face. She wants 1 more to complete our family. Should I?

if your wife suggested the break it means she wants a loop hole to cheat. "its not cheating if we broke it off".

So do you. However, just end it completely. do not mend, do not work on it, just get a lawyer, file papers. best if you can get a non-contested divorce but get one all the same.

breaks from partners or open relationships mean i wanna fuck around but have that security blanket in case it doesnt work out for me... FUCK THAT!!! get to stepping...
