Lesbian Female / 38
Perhaps Maturity And Experience Has Formed Me,
I am a family law practitioner specializing in gay couples. When gay marriage came about I was a law student. A professor told me that was the next big business opportunity, gays and lesbians, getting married had money, and they would be divorcing in large numbers. Certainly my practice is 60% gay and lesbian breakups. Unlike straight marriages, there are less children and assets, but a lot of very hurt feelings.
I belonged to an LGBTetc forum, where I counseled couples wanting to get married. Over time I became more and more convinced that marriage was the wrong answer, first because marriage is not a contract to live together, marriage is a social contract to build families. So unless children were in the future, just have a cohabitation arrangement. This is my current advise.
In addition, on a totally other social issue, I became more and more against abortion, in particular to post conception birth control. It goes against my nature. I proved it to myself by getting pregnant. I wanted to know what I would do, with a baby inside of me. My life changed completely, most importantly for the better, although a lot more expensive. I would never personally abort a baby and I will vote against it. I believe in families, and multiple siblings and I've allowed that man, their father, to continue to make me pregnant.
I'm generally not welcome, my practice is dependent on referrals. Of these very same gays and lesbians who understand first hand what I talk about it. More than one lesbian has told me, thank you for stopping her from aborting her child. Just because you are a lesbian, does not mean you cannot and shouldn't be a mother. They send me the business, and I have to triage.
I have a group of like minded women who vote with me on these very issues. Open and unfettered gay marriage is a failed experiment, and open abortion is an abomination. Who in their right mind would have their baby torn from their insides? A woman's g*ft is to make life, turning your back on that g*ft is selfish, and damned to spend eternity in hell for infanticide.
