Daughters

My daughters, 16 and 14, have always been very close and get along really well and do a lot of things together. Recently I happened to see them naked together in the older daughter's bedroom. They just acted very casual and nonchalant about it. Since then I have seen them naked together several more times. I suspect that they are being sexual together. I have not said anything to them. Should I be concerned or just accept this and think nothing about it?

Well, at least you know where they are, and that they're not doing anything with boys. So I would say just be accepting of this and not treat it like it's a big deal.

It's not like they're going to get pregnant. This sound like they may just be experimenting, coming to grips with their sexuality. Really it seems to me that its a relatively low stakes situation when you're talking about two sisters being together. They aren't out with some boy trying to knock them up. I know I can't keep my girls from arguing with each other. At least yours sound like they're getting along. Lol.

How does it make you feel? Do you have a problem with this? When you were young did you have someone you experimented with? Do you think they're being safer about it than you did? Do you find it exciting to think they may be playing with eachother just down the hall? Even make you feel left out?

Just experimenting probably. If anything you could talk about moderation and healthy relationships. Otherwise let them, they will probably stop once older and get boyfriends.

I agree with the other anonymous posters. Your daughters are probably engaging in natural, harmless exploration.

anon2 provides some great questions that you can reflect on. Please come back and share your answers, or discuss with your daughters in a family meeting.

It is possible that your daughters are lesbians, too. There is nothing wrong with that. My son is bisexual and my daughter is a lesbian. They had a lot of fun growing up, and they made me a grandmother at an age when I still had a lot of energy to run after my grandbaby. It was also nice to be the sole grandmother, not to have to compete with in-laws, since those years with the grandchildren go by so damned fast.

Agreed! Let them explore their sexuality. It is healthy and natural. You're subtlety raising well adjusted women.

It could be wise to ask their father to join them, so that they would have a male in their group.

I know a lot of moms look forward to becoming grandmas. Is that something you'd enjoy?

if you’ve had a sex talk with them, I would just leave them alone. They’ll be fine and your interfering will just make it awkward for them. I played around with my cousin and it was just 2 horny boys. And I turned out fine.
