I've been having a lot of trouble putting a tampon in. I'm 13 and got my period about a year ago. I can get it in, but I can feel it and it's uncomfortable. And don't say to ask my mom, my mom died when I was 5. Please no rude replies, I'm just asking.

Tampons cause cancer, don't use the things! I'm a married woman in my thirties who started having my period at age ten, and I've always used a pad. It might seem like a diaper, and extended use may cause a yeast infection, but at least you won't die of cancer because of it. And to think, it was a female doctor who invented those evil tampons!

Tampons cause cancer? Well that's a first for me! What other conspiracies do you subscribe to? you sound like my mother who thought you shouldn't go swimming or bathe during your period.

umm, I'm not really worried about cancer. I mostly use pads, but I really like swimming and going to the beach and I'd like to wear a tampon only for that kind of stuff.

Read the warning on the tampon box, and ask your doctor.

They have super lite and junior tampons. I reccommend starting with those. Also, there are explicit directions to follow in the box with drawings, etc. Follow those, it may take a few times, but u will get used to the feeling. I hope I was more helpful that the idiots that responded to you before. Also, realize that you cant put one in and take it out in 10 min, that hurts. And also, make sure you put it all the way in because that can cause discomfort as well. Good Luck, and I'm sorry to hear about your mother.

Use pads. Screw those tampons.

Tampons are safe, as long as you change them every few hours(toxic shock syndrome).
Yes, you can swim and do anything else as long as it doesn't cause discomfort.

I would also reccommend using the "ultra slim" tampons.
Make sure you push them far enough up so that you don't feel it. If you don't it is usually painful/uncomfortable and inserted incorrectly.

Tip, you have to go in a certain angle... try many times, different angles, different ways and such.

if it's your first time, don't worry! I've been there too, just buy Playtex gental glide, or playtex slim fits tampons and read the instructions on the box, you'll be fine, remember to relax your body, and try sitting on the toliet or put one foot on the tub when you're doing it- good luck

ok, it could be that one part of the applicator is still in there. sounds crazy, but it happened to me the first time i used a tampon. it hurt like crazy and i swore i would never use them again, but then i realized my mistake and have been using them ever since!
