My husband almost put something through our ceiling once, it was around one or two AM and it sounded like someone was beating the shit out of the kid in that apartment. He ended up calling DYFUS on them.
The next day (in the middle of the afternoon) the upstairs pricks called the police on us for having our "TV to loud" and they were trying to sleep (in the middle of the afternoon?) guess they were up all night beating the shit out of that kid.

In this day and age, that's not practical for most people. Also, what's wrong with wanting to live in an apartment? Especially with the real estate market so terrible right now, maybe some people would like to wait to get involved...you can say people can buy dirt cheap, but it's still a big leap.
