I hate my neighbors..I really HATE them.Thank goodness for this forum, because I need to vent and my fiance doesn't seem to be bothered by any of this.
These people live int he partment kity corner from mine. They are young and good looking in the Jessica Simpspn-Nick Lachy mold. That is not the resson I hate them, although it does help me hate them more.Anyway, they own 2 enormmous dogs that do nothing but bark their fool heads off all damn day.I am talking from 7 AM until roughly 2 or 3 in the morning. The leasing office doesn't really seem to care about this and the cops, well,by the time they get here, the dogs will be dead of old age.I imagine if the dogs actually shot someone the cops might come out.
I am at the end of my rope.I am literally hanging by a thread to my sanity.I have called the cops and the leasing office. My next step is animal control.Does anyone have any ideas on how I can deal with this?

I'm sorry you have that problem. I would call animal control. The dogs may not be well taken care of. I have the same problem with my boyfriend our loud neighbors/barking dogs don't bother him and it is frustrating.

With respect, you have the cops and "Animal Control" mixed up. Call "Animal Control" <i>first</i>. Cops DEEPLY resent getting calls for obnoxious animals(i.e.,dogs, cats, ANYthing other than people behaving badly) and wont give you a particularly sympathetic ear when they eventually show up.
This is not to say that "Animal Control" will necessarily solve your problem (and they will take hours to show up as well), and, in fact, it will probably take several calls before they will become particularly motivated.
At that point, you will have to file an official complaint that sets up a mandatory appearance from the owners of the offending animal in court to plead guilty or not....9 times out of 10 they plead "Not", which means you have to appear as the witness for the municipality, which assesses and receives the fine. Generally, the fine amounts to around $30.(first offense)for the city and a big axe to grind with you from the viewpoint of your lazy ass irresponsible neighbor, which will fester as long as you both live within proximity of each other.

A pie pan full of anti-freeze will take care of those two annoying damn dogs and make your neighbors sorry they ever chose to move in near you.

Yes, animals can often be annoying. Cats will wander and defecate where they will and be destructive and make noise, as will neglected dogs. But I would suggest that it is their irresponsible OWNERS who should be punished.

Sometimes, if a policeman or animal control officer is a pet owner, a poisoned animal investigation might become a "pet project". Cruelty to animals carries a hefty fine, potential jail time and, potentially, a lot of adverse publicity for the perpetrator. Additionally, the pet owner might retain legal counsel and bring a civil suit.

I would strongly advise you to contact animal control and follow through with that.

The anti-freeze should be for the neighbor, why punish the dogs for being normal? Catch the neighbor out in the street and accidetly run him over.

Go with the anti-freeze. It sounds like these two won't catch on any other way. Remember to be careful when you do it. Do it yourself. Don't hire someone. If you do hire someone, that person will have to be killed to keep them from talking or blackmailing. Personally,I'd friendly up with the people and the dogs first. Bring them little treats so they get to know you and trust you. Study the young couples habits so you know when would be the best time. Follow all other crime rules, fingerprints, footprints,di sposing of container, etc. Afterwards, act kinda bummed out, like, " who could do such a terrible thing" etc. Remember,if you cover your ass, there is no proof of any wrongdoing. We all have a little larceny in our soul and yes,you too. Wish I was there to coach, but good luck to you. I wish you luck in all future endeavors. BTW, My neigborhood is totally cat free. HE! HE!!!

The trouble with that approach, besides the obvious sociopathic aspect, is that people who let their animals become a nuisance are <I>sooo</I> despondent after loosing Fido or Fluffy that they usually console themselves by immediately replacing their lost pet with another one.
And that one will soon become a problem also.
When you see to it that irresponsible pet owner is <I>fined<I/>(and that fine <b>increases</b> with every successful complaint) they <I>will</I> get the message.

<u>You</u> will have a clear conscience.

It's a damn shame you don't live right next door to the assholes. I'd get a copy of that song of the barking dogs that do Jingle Bells and rig it up to a 250 watt stereo and turn it on full blast before I walk out the door to go somewhere with the speakers right against their walls. See how much they like them apples when the tables are turned on them and they have to suffer thru that for a few agonizing hours. Maybe they'd think twice about what they're subjecting you guys to.

<i><b>WHY</I> ;</B> is it that irresponsible people are <i>always</I> the folks that <I>must</I> <u>try</u> to keep pets?
There are very, very few people who tend their animal charges in a manner that keeps their pets the way they should be - - - unnoticed.
Whether you are in the inner city in a tiny apartment, or 50 miles out in the countryside, its those irresponsible idiots and their lazy tendancies that make people dislike animals....
Incidentally, this goes for <I><b><U>children</ I></b> as well.

Another idea - print out the original message and all the respones and slip the print-out under their door.
Maybe, just maybe, they will get the message.
