I parked in front of his house, and recieved a note telling me to park in front of MY OWN house...

If I did that, I would be blocking a fire hydrant.

It is a public street.

It all depends. If it's a Private home and you have a driveway or garage, then there should be no excuse for parking in front his house, common courtesy. However, if it's apartment buildings you guys are living in and there is no parking put aside for the tenants, then I say fuck him its public street.

Your overly territorial neighbor sounds like trouble.

You might consider putting up a surveillance camera to monitor your car because you are liable to experience some resistance(perhaps amounting to vandalism) even when this neighbor becomes aware that the street IS public parking.

Make sure that you don't otherwise trouble this person with prowling, unleashed animals, keep the noise to a minimum, and take care of any litter that might blow or otherwise find it's way into their yard and the neighbors will find they don't have a reasonable complaint when it comes to you or your parking situation.

Also, keep a record of any "conversations" you might have regarding your status in the neighborhood.
