I live in a trailer park. I swear we are one of four families that do NOT smoke, do pot, drugs on welfare, drink alcohol or been IN jail or rehab.

Now we are not bible thumpers of ANY kind. We are NOT saints.

I HATE when they tell me how to raise my kids. My oldest has a full time job, Owes his own car. Never trouble. Which can NOT say about theirs.

My other skipped to two grades. Never gets into serous trouble.

Damn drunks. I am so tired of talking to nicely.

I was talking to an adult who was telling about her husband rehab as if it were nothing, as if I should know what she was talking about. She was trying to get my youngest (8 years old) to give a game to her. Apparently the game that was giving to him was not his to give. She got pissy because I would not allow him to give it to her. I ex[lained that is was nothing on her but we would give it to the "owner" when we saw them.

I said that who my son had gotten the game from was a bit of a storyteller {HE TELLS HUGE WHOPPERS ALL OF THE TIME) and that I was worried about him because he rarely attends school. Then she told me how it was the 9 year old's fault and that he was going to get his in poor mother in trouble someday. YEP! MONDAY I WILL call social services. It is NOT the child's fault!

Talk about BACKWARD thinking.

Last week my son and his best friend were doing spit wads at each other and MY house and MY car. I watched them. The drunk next door hoses my son down "in play". To "teach him a lesson".

They NEVER went anywhere near them or any one.

My son was really upset. He came in and my boy's a little over the top about it. I am trying to talk to him and get him out of the wet things. Our door was open because the kids were going in and out so the neighbor walks up to it and tells me that we are the ones with the problem. That he "could get hepatitis".

I told him to go away.

Then he sees my husband and tells him a story about how he bought another trailer and that he needed hose"his" back. This is the hose he gave us months ago and has been on the property for months.

Well my husband did NOT fall for it. He comes back from the laundry and tells me what he said. I say no way. He gave it to us.

I see the neighbor hem-and-ha about coming over. He comes closer telling me that he is going get his stuff. I tell in a stern voice "Take anything off of my property and I will call the police."

Then he said he would "call the police because he had the receipt."

I say, "Good! Call them. Let's see who they believe? Us with NO record, NOT drunk and witnesses to back up our story?"

Them I tell him, "If you want me to be a bitch I will. I'll call the cops every time the music up or is on after 10 PM, or when I smell pot or when they have one of their many fights. THERE AIN"T NOTHING YOU CAN DO THAT WILL NOT GET YOU BACK IN JAIL!"

He shut the fuck up. I have not heard a peep out of them.

Now across the way are two boys. One who turned 6 yesterday. He has a shit load of toys, runs the neighborhood, never goes to school, hardly ever dresses for the weather, never wears his glasses, and who thinks it is funny to push, kick, hit.

I NEVER let my son do anything back. TODAY I said, "Kick him hard when he kicks you."

Why? My eight year old has complained to his father about his son hurting him. His dad thought nothing off it. BUT guess what? When his kid was crying and it was an accident and 4 people say it was he yells at my kid that "Next time he was going sit on his head." THAT IS IT>

I say kick when he kicks you. Push him down.

I explain it to the child 4 times in a row and had repeat it that if he hurts my son that he WILL get it back.

Part of my feels sorry for him. After all, daddy went to the bar and got drunk instead of taking him out trick-or-treating. How many do you get? I tell you about 10. That's it. Could he have gone after to the bar? HELL YES>

And the shit that quote "watches" is about as smart as a turnip. Last year we tried to teach him UNO. He was 10 at the time, so it should NOT have been anything. He thinks China is underground. That vampires are real. DUMB>

I also hate that his mother gets him a dog about 4 times a year. Then the dog does something wrong and they get rid of it.

If you knew how many times our neighbors run out of food, can not pay their bills. We don't have great jobs but we have NEVER had any anything turned off, repossessed, or had to run around in dirty garments, let alone NOTHING TO EAT>

Yet some how they seem to have money for beer and cigarettes.

One word... Pathetic!

<I>"I live in a trailer park."</I>

You might as well have written: <I>I live in a zoo,</I> and then complained about your proximity to the monkeys, hyenas, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, etc, and their "bad" behaviour.

It always is surprising how well people get along - anywhere - as well as they do, at any given time, in any given place, but if you have chosen to live in a trailer park - - well, absorb the experience, consider the good, bad, and indifferent, and move on.

If you have fallen to such a pass that you can only afford to live in such a locality - I guess you will have to adjust your expectations and make as much peace with your situation as you can.

I suppose you can console yourself a bit with the knowledge that close to 87% of that USA population not currently living in a trailer park - is only a paycheck or two away from existing in their vehicles, or on the street - from which vantage point a trailer park might look rather rosy & cosy.

If you would like to know how it is we have come to be here I will tell you all. I was going back to school for my teaching degree while teaching our own children about three years ago. During this time the company that my husband worked for 4 years and that seemed very successful went under.

Then my husband's grandmother died whom we were helping to care for and them in six months my father died. Leaving us legally responsible for sorting their messes out. That means money out not in.

During this, I fell. Ripping the cartilage in my right knee. I was in bed for over a month. I need surgery but with no insurance we could not swing it. I have taken one more fall since them when my knee went one way and the rest of me went the other, injuring my back. This makes being on my feet for longer and a few minutes at a time difficult with out painkillers. Which I try and avoid taking. I am improving. I do the exercises I have read in books and on an improved diet and try and make self do more every week.

He did not find another job for over two years.

We lost our home.

The car we had was totaled when a spare tire from a truck took out the engine. But we were not hurt. So all things consider that went well.

I took our last 3,0000 bought us 40 foot RV. Hey it is paid for and if we have to ever move we can with little effort. Well, when compared to moving out of a house. Our rent is 200 a month in California. Try and beat that.

We found the cheapest place to live. But over all it is not bad.

We thought it would be better if my husband and my son (who was starting college) to go back to school. My husband now has A.A. and various office and medical office degrees.

All of which he has been able to find a part time job for nine dollars an hour.

We average with right now 1800 a month. In California that would cover rent only. Needless to say it doesn't go far. But we try and watch what we spend.

Our nearest school is 45 miles away. With no working car it makes things more difficult. There always seems to be something. Now it's the transmission. My dreams are put on hold so that my son and husband can go to work and my son back to school.

I am grateful that we have a home and each other. And for the most part our health.

Unless the book gets picked up we will be here awhile. But I got an agent and have one some awards for my short fiction. So maybe this dream will work out?

So we did not get here because we chose to do drugs, break the law, or get drunk every day. Nor do I have several children. I have two. One who is 20 working, who has attended college, and one who will be 9 by the end of the month.

This is my husband first marriage. My second. I never thought I would have another child or marry again. But life is funny that way. We have been together for over ten years.

"But I got an agent...."

Last time I looked, "agents" weren't free.

Think about that for a few minutes....

OK - now a reality check -

Truthfully, you need an editor and/or/better yet - a ghostwriter - more than you need an agent.

LoL the last thing she needs is some stranger telling her what shes done wrong, or how to fix things. Just let her vent and don't be an asshole. Good luck.
