My neighbors just had an indoor pool and a trampoline installed in their backyard which backs up to my backyard. Every summer evening and every weekend and holiday they have company over which usually includes lots of kids. What do these kids do? Scream, scream, and yell in the pool. I am glad these kids have a healthy, outdoor activity but I haven't enjoyed a peaceful dinner on my deck or have been able to relax after work in the backyard since the pool was opened. I built a fence but the noise seems to echo off their house and right into my yard. I can usually hear them inside my house if the windows are open. Of course, I tried to talk to them and they accuse me of being jealous of their pool. I would never allow my kids (who are older) to sit on my back deck yelling screaming and laughing this loud and this often. There is an ordinance protecting my neighbors from my dog barking more than 10 minutes. There are no ordinances for screaming kids. I have been told to get a life. I have a fine life, it's just miserable from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

That's a problem. Because there doesn't appear anything you can do about it. The neighbors don't care about you and that shouldn't be a surprise as, in my experience, no neighbor gives a flying damn about anybody else. A good neighbor is one who keeps his mouth shut while the other neighbors turn the neighborhood into a hell-hole. If you called the police about a crack house the dopers would hate you and tell you to get a life too.

They have expressed their contempt for you by their "get a life" comment. Of course they would say this to *anybody* who complained about their noise, not just you.

Good luck to you.

Are you sure that there are no town/city codes concerning noise levels? I live in a small dirty, nobody cares town but even we have codes on the books concerning noise. I would check with your local government before I gave up on the noise. Also check with a lawyer, some states have a "right to enjoy property" or something like that, you may be able to sue the neighbors and city/town.

here's a thought...buy boxes of unflavored ex-lax, or bottles of clear laxative. dump in the pool. eventually the noise makers will get the shits.
or you could dump in dog and cat shit
