Neighbors - we all have them, whether they live a mile away or just on the other side of a paper-thin wall. So, they're your neighbors, and you have to try to be civil. Or do you? Do you hate your neighbors? Tell the world about it. Ever "accidentally" cut down a neighbor's bush, or "accidentally" blow fallen leaves into their yard? Ever get a neighbor's mail by accident and opened it? Ever spied on a neighbor? We want to know!

i really liked this one girl, but when she didn't show an interest in me i moved on. no big deal i figured. her friend started liking me, and i started liking her, so we hooked up. Girl A (the first one) proceeded to talk trash about me to her friend, my girlfriend, Girl B. i didn't do anything to her. she becamse supremely jealous it seemed because i moved my complete attention from her to her friend. she ended up kicking me in the nuts one day when i was with my girlfriend, Girl B, as to embarass me in front of her. Girl A tried to rationalize her kicking me in the nuts in everyway imaginable but the honest truth is i did nothing. so as life went on i let it go. i went up to her face to face and apologized if i did anything i didn't know about that pissed her off because i'd rather be friends than enemies. she accepted the apology and made up....supposedly. that VERY night she goes about trash talking again. i decided that she can tell a handful of people lies about me so that they don't talk to me as long as i can start a website about all the manipulative actions and lies that define her as a person. the website led to an organization, the organization led to a promotional video, and the promo video led to tshirts. right now we do not like each other but i have successfully started a campaign against this bitch through the creation of an organization of people who dislike her.

  • These assholes who live two floors above me are all "star DJs" and find it necessary to blast their music all the fucking time! We live in a building with an open courtyard in the middle which everyone's windows look out on; it makes the sounds of everyone's life available to everyone else. DAY AND NIGHT if it's not one of them, it's the other ones. They get home from working at their various clubs around three, four a.m., when the rest of us have finally gone to bed (it is, in fact, a building full of mostly young people) and start having their rave session with all of their little druggie friends; we can see the glow sticks swirling and hear their stomping; incense rolls out of the window and sometimes they turn on a strobe!

i think they must think they are doing us all a favor by bringing their excellent music to the rest of us! OH MY GOD IT SUCKS! They are terrible at mixing, even if you like that techno bullshit, which I DON'T! Then they get up from their sleep around oh, 2 p.m., when i'm sitting at my desk trying to do calculus or something, or just relax before i go to work, and they ruin the nice sunny afternoon by blasting that shit again. It's like waking up on Saturday morning when you were a kid, all relaxed and happy, and hearing your parents start up the vacuum cleaner or lawn mower. My sphincter clenches up and bile rises in my throat. Believe me, we've all asked them to turn it down, called the cops, and complained to the leasing agent. One time i was so sick in bed i could barely make it to the kitchen; i just started crying b/c my head was pounding and i wanted to kill them. i sent my boyfriend up to tell them to shut the fuck up for once, they said, "OK", closed and locked the door and did nothing. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH SHUTUP SHUTUP SHUTUP!

I have lived next door to an elderly couple in an older working-class neighborhood for sixteen years. For the first four or five years they were friendly enough and I sort of liked the idea of them "watching out" for my house while I was away, but they were always a bit too adept at appearing unexpectedly in my fenced backyard and elsewhere around my house uninvited, and their conversations were invariably monologues on how "well" they and their numerous progeny had done in life.

One day as I pulled into the driveway,I was amazed to see the old man, who stood oblivious to my arrival, peering into my front window with a group of semi-attended children who also live in the 'hood. When they became aware of my presence, they all started examining leaves and twigs in my yard and they affected the air of being on some sort of "field trip". Perplexed and a little miffed, I stood in the yard trying to grin at them just a little too hard (so my disapproval would be obvious - well, in retrospect - obvious to any adult with some slight clue) and as the old man explained that "the children were looking at the leaves from my tree" I laughed sharply, shook my head and walked away.

For years, this old couple have had yardwork done for them in which the trimmings end up in my yard; he burns paper, cardboard, etc. in a stove in a small outbuilding on their property but the smoke ends up making my upstairs smell like there is an elecrical fire somewhere entirely TOO nearby; he wanders around in the alley, talking to anyone who will pay attention and accumulating stickers(seedpods) in his shoes and then proceeds to his "garden"; a tiny strip 8'X 3' where he grows tomatoes and sows weeds from the stowaways on his shoes ON MY PROERTY exactly adjacent to his "garden"; if he finds any blowing papers, bottles, branches etc., etc., AND etc. in his yard he unjustly and irrationally assumes it has come from me somehow and waits for me to leave and then places the object in my driveway, so I have to park, get out and remove the obstacle. I have never actually caught him at this but let us say I have rather strong suspicions based on his other behaviour.

The date 9/11/01 will stick in my memory not only for the OBVIOUS reasons but also because, as I sat on my back porch not a little dazed, pondering the beastly depths of depravity to which mankind was capable of falling and the ramifications of the terrorist attack on the WTC and Pentagon, I was pulled from this sad revery by the old woman, who wondered insistently if I would "trim my roses, some sprigs were overlapping their wall" and causing them obviously some greater consternation than all the horrific events of that day combined. I put padlocks on my gates to keep them out of my backyard, but the old man apparently convinced himself that I and my eight year old(at the time)son had recruited the neighborhood cats to relieve themselves on his property. He gruffly ordered my son to "get "his"(my son's) damn cat out of "his"(old man's) yard", my son, trying to be polite, complied by trying to capture the animal while truthfully explaining that we don't even keep cats. If I had known about this incident there would have been a confrontation at that time. To "get back" at us for the "cat affront", he began taking another neighbor's small dog from it's yard and physically placing it into our padlocked backyard where it would relive itself and escape between the fencepost and the gate. Having actually observed this, I ran downstairs and confronted him where he now sat in his backyard and incredibly, he DENIED the whole thing(!). He takes this other neighbor's same small dog on walks up and down the street without a leash; since the dog has established its scent in my yard, the animal just contents itself befouling my yard while this fine old fellow "innocently" wanders the street. I have told him in no uncertain terms to keep the animal out of my yard and when this went unheeded, called Animal Control, who said they would call both the old couple and the dog's owners(who, being younger and having lived in the neighborhood only about a year, are disinclined to think this old couple are capable of such mischief, much less outright disingenuousness) and let them know that they were all liable to be fined for the dog which was becoming a nuisance by proxy. Now, not only am I the bad guy with at least two neighbors, but he walks the dog, now on a leash, and stands gawking at whatever he thinks he perceives in the bushes or the equally extraordinary(to him) cracks in the sidewalk in front of my house while the dog pees on the grass at the end of his leash. I am happy that I can park my car in the garage or I would have to install video cameras to protect it from this elderly pair of delinquents.

I am aware that I might speak to his adult children but I am only very slightly acquainted with them and have a distinct impression that they, for whatever reason(s), are disinclined to much interference in their parent's golden years.... I am also aware that I am quite limited to what recourse I have under the law, that there are indeed laws which prevent me from addressing the problem with the directness the situation probably requires and I dont want to make it my life's purpose to document these transgressions with videotape and retain an attorney for whatever civil suit I could come up with. Moving is also out of the question at present.

I content myself with the reflection that the passage of time will most likely sooner, rather than later, let me have the last laugh. I only hope that I can absorb some wisdom from this series of admittedly minor aggravations(for the most part)and that my approaching late afternoon/twilight years will NOT find me becoming a problem and an embarassment.

  • HELLO!!! When it is Halloween, and you are not home or don't care to answer the door, turn the FUCKING LIGHTS OFF! Ever seen the look in a kid's eye when he knocks and knocks and no one comes (I really hope all that knocking annoys the shit out of you, too). Next time we bring rotten eggs.

i hate my neighbor...she keeps her two shepherds in a small chain link pen outside of my two year old sons window. they bark non stop. she is in an apartment we in a house we own. she never put the two beasts on a leash, and when she is at her place she leaves the front door open so they can roam around. i have caught them in my yard more than once. i have complained to her and the landlord. well yesterday my golden retriever got out of my fence and the two shepherds attacked my dog in front of my front door. my dog required several stiches. the animal control asked if i want to push the issue and i said HELL YES, and they said she is pressing charges against me!!! yes my dog did get out, but he was the one attacked, and on my property. when i spoke to the landlord she said just stay away from the bitch she's off her meds. if i didnt love animals the way i do i would serve up some antifreeze. i hate the crazy bitch next door, and her two idiot dogs.

  • I HATE MY NEIGHBORS DOWN STAIRS FROM ME SO BAD THAT EACH AND EVERY DAY I WANT TO KILL THEM MORE AND MORE!!! THEY ARE ALWAYS SO LOUD AND THEY NEVER LEAVE ENTIRLY. THEY ARE THREE GUYS IN THEIR EARLY TWENTIES, AND ALL THREE OF THEM ARE NEVER GONE ALL ALL AT ONCE, AT LEAST ONE OF THE LITTLE PUKES IS THERE CONSTANTLY, DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!!

This is what we call our neighborhood these days..."the over-priced trailor park". I can not even begin to start with the dysfunction that goes on around here. Have you ever had neighbor come over and ask why you put up window blinds...becuase now she feels like you are shuting her out of your life? Didn't think so. Or when you are gone for a day or two and your neighbor (a different one) leaves voicemails expressing her concern that you did not tell them where you were going? Or another neighbor that hired a red-neck crew to cut down a tree in MY backyard becasue she did not like it? Or how about furniture if the neighbors yard? No...not lawn furniture but inside furniture that just suits thie fancy to leave out in the driveway. When we lived downtown in a big city, where is density is higher, and the odds of strangeness is more in your favor, we never had this. So is this today's surburbia? If so, I want out. Signed, "The fish in the fishtank"

I live in an apartment complex full of rude assholes who cannot seem to follow the rules, and the management is more concerned with sleeping with the tenants than enforcing simple rules, like no barbecuing in the hallways and no parking in the handicapped parking spot. People love to play mind games with me all the time around here. As soon as I start parking somewhere, like a particular spot, they all start parking there and keep me from parking there, despite the fact that there are literally 27 other parking spots around our building. And it's always the same neighbors that do it. I am nothing but nice to these people too. I don't slam the large steel door so that it echoes in the hallway and wakes everyone up and disturbs others like they do. I don't scream at the top of my lungs out there either. I don't leave my apartment with my music blaring at top volume for the whole day while I'm at work just to piss people off like they do. I don't throw wild parties that have resulted in cars catching on fire in the parking lot and fights that take 12 police officers to break up. I don't break into other tenants' apartments and steal their stuff and deal drugs and beat my family like everyone around here does. If I didn't see half of this stuff myself, I would never know about it because management won't tell anyone what goes on! They just want to have sex with all the tenants and take their money. The worst part is, I cannot move. I have to live with my parents because I'm a poor college student and for some strange reason this does not bother them, only me. I am slowly being driven crazy by these people. God willing, every single building in my complex will catch fire and every single tenant around here except for me and my family will die. That's just how much I hate living here. My friends are all waiting for the day I end up going postal on everyone around here because I usually beg them to let me stay at their houses so I don't have to come home here! Trust me, if you are smart, you won't move to the Wildwood Forest Apartment Complex in The Woodlands Texas. It is truly hell on earth in this complex.

I have these low class black neighbors. The guy owns a restaurant. Well, he sits outside in his back yard and does his prep work for the next day. He lets this food just sit out in the sun. He then takes his waste like fish guts and other kinds of meat parts and throws them in the woods behind the houses. I walk my dog back there and it smells like a rotting corpse. I wish I knew what restaurant it was so I could report his nasty ass.

The other day a repo man came knocking on my door asking me if I had seen his truck. I got a good laugh at that one. His electric and cable where both shut off. He's not staying there much anymore. They usually show up late at night to get their mail in the car the repo man's looking for. I hope they never come back.

  • As a homeowner, I have less rights to live in peace than if I lived in an apartment. As a homeowner, if you have a problem with your neighbor (loud music etc) you are told by the police that they can only tell them to stop what they are doing and that's it. If you live in an apartment, the landlord will give them about 3 chances and then they can evict them. I had apartment neighbors that were very loud and the manager evicted them after 3 complaints (not just by me).
It seems to me that when some people move into houses they lose all the manners their mothers taught them. They think that their loud music doesn't penetrate their walls and if they do, they don't care. They don't care if their driveway looks like a trash bin because they fail to pick up their newspapers (when they are not on vacation). My generation (late babyboomers) have become self-centered, rude and crude. Our parents did not raise us like this! We set the examples for our children!
