I Wonder Why Their Husbands Took Them Back
I'm old now and arthritis is getting the best of me. My best days are gone and I know it, but I got a lot of memories, good and bad, and some regrets.
I had my share of women when I was young, but most were short term things. I got a lot of money from an inheritance when I was 32, and I'd meet these women, and before long I had them running off with me to travel around and have fun for a while. We'd be together anywhere from weeks to months, but I never pretended that it was going to last forever. They were small town women mostly and had never been anywhere. And they weren't all 22, some were in their 40s. Most were either married or had long term boyfriends. I often wondered what their husbands thought when they just took off one day.
There were two very different women I'm thinking about tonight. They got pregnant by me. I offered all kinds of alternatives, and would have paid child support, but I wasn't going to marry them. They ended up going back to their husbands, and the husbands took them back. They had to know the kid wasn't theirs. I don't understand that at all. One woman was in her 20s, but the other was 42. She and her husband had raised their youngest to 14 years old, and now they were going to have a newborn and be raising a child into their 60s. I looked the women up on facebook and the oldest woman is still with her husband. The kids I fathered are successful from what I can tell. The husbands made better fathers than I ever would have been. I don't understand men who would do that. Good decent Christian men I guess. I'm glad the world has them.
